"Oxygen" is a song by British new rave band Hadouken!. It was released as the second single from their third studio album ''Every Weekend'' on 7 November 2010. The EP was released later on 18 January 2011. Background "Oxygen" is the second of two songs (the other being " Mecha Love") that the band had confirmed to be released as singles in 2010, before the rest of their third album is recorded in January 2011. The song was mistakenly released on Beatport on the same date as "Mecha Love", several weeks before the announced release date. To compensate for this, the official release date was pushed back into December and the release was extended into an EP. Music video The music video was first published through Hadouken!'s YouTube channel on 8 January 2011. Hadouken! are a British band formed in London in 2006 by singer, writer and producer James Smith and synth player Alice Spooner along with guitarist Daniel "Pilau" Rice, bassist Christopher Purcell and drummer Nick Rice. The band name is taken from the special attack of the same name from the ''Street Fighter'' video game series. It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label, Surface Noise Records. History Early years After forming the label, Smith began writing and demoing the first Hadouken! tracks. In February 2007, Hadouken! self-released a two-song limited edition vinyl, a double-a side of "That Boy That Girl" and "Tuning In". New Rave
New rave (also typeset as nu-rave, nu rave or neu rave) is a genre of music described by ''The Guardian'' as "an in-yer-face, DIY disco riposte to the sensitive indie rock touted by bands like Bloc Party." Loadstar is music production duo from Bristol, United Kingdom. They produced predominantly drum and bass however they worked in other genres such as dubstep and electro. The duo consisted of Gavin "Xample" Harris and Nick "Lomax" Hill. They previously produced under the alias Xample & Lomax. Career 2007–2009: Record deal and formation The two artists met while Bristol-born Xample was studying sociology at Liverpool University. Lomax was one-third of the production trio Holdtight at the time. Xample booked Holdtight for a drum and bass event, and Lomax moved to Bristol shortly afterwards. "Mecha Love" is the first single by British grime band Hadouken! from their third studio album ''Every Weekend''. It was released on 18 October 2010. Background The band had confirmed several times earlier that they had started work on their third album and that they were demoing tracks. They later stated they had recorded two songs to be released as singles (Mecha Love and Oxygen) before they headed to the studio to record the rest of the album. The song made its radio debut on Radio 1, where it was played by Nick Grimshaw after a chat with James Smith. He then posted the link to the music video on his Facebook page.
