Oxford Harlequins (Oxford Quins) Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Oxford, England. In the 2021-22 season the men's 1st XV gained promotion to a new league in the England Rugby Club Championship, Regional 1 South Central, a new nomenclature for National 3 / level five of the English rugby union system. As of Sept 2022, the women's 1st XV compete in National Challenge 1 South East, level 4 of the England Rugby Women's Club Championship. The men's 2nd XV compete in Counties 2 Tribute Berks/Bucks & Oxon North, level 8 of the RFU rugby pyramid. The men's 3rd XV compete in Counties 3 Tribute Berks Bucks & Oxon North, level 9 of the RFU Rugby pyramid. The Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Oxfordshire in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Oxfordshire, and administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the county. It also administers the Oxfordshire county rugby representative teams. History The Oxfordshire RFU was first formed during the 1931–32 season with L.C. Gower being the first ever president. The England national rugby union team represents England in men's international rugby union. They compete in the annual Six Nations Championship with France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Oxfordshire RFU County Cup
The Oxfordshire RFU County Cup is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Oxfordshire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1970–71 season, with the inaugural winners being Oxford. It is the most important rugby union cup competition in Oxfordshire, ahead of the Oxfordshire RFU County Shield. The County Cup is open to club sides based in Oxfordshire playing in tier 6 (South West 1 East) and tier 7 (Southern Counties North) of the English rugby union system, 2nd teams of higher ranked clubs in the county (tiers 3–4), as well as invitee sides from outside of the league structure (e.g. university representative sides). South West 1 East
South West 1 East is an English, level six, rugby union league in south and south-west England; mainly Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Gloucester, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire. Originally a single division known as South West 2, since 1996 the division has been split into two regional leagues – South West 1 East and South West 1 West. The champions are promoted to South West Premier (formerly National League 3 South West) and the runner-up play the second team in South West 1 West, with the winning team gaining promotion. Counties 1 Southern North (formerly known as Southern Counties North) is a division at level 7 of the English rugby union system. When league rugby first began in 1987 it was a single league known as Southern Counties but since 1996 the division was split into two regional leagues - Southern Counties North and Southern Counties South. Counties 1 Southern North currently sits at the seventh tier of club rugby union in England and primarily featuring teams based in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. St Edward's School is a public school (English independent day and boarding school) in Oxford, England. It is known informally as 'Teddies'.
