Outram, Saskatchewan
Outram is an unincorporated community in the Rural Municipality of Cambria No. 6, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located at NE Section 19, Township 2, Range 10, W2, just north of highway 18 between Estevan and Torquay, Saskatchewan along the Long Creek Railroad. History In 1912 the Estevan Neptune Railroad branch (originally called the Estevan and Forward branch) of the Canadian Pacific Railway passed through what was to become Outram. The first train to run on the line was on Sept.24, 1913. The following year, Outram Station 49° 8′ 42″ N, 103° 19′ 32″ W became the name of the second railway station west of Estevan. In the years following, an elevator was built. A post office (May 1, 1914) was established at Sec 19, Twp 2, Rge 10, W2 in a private residence, a general store opened and in 1957 a curling rink was erected. History The Long Creek Railroad officially opened on October 2, 2012. The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool was a grain handling, agri-food processing and marketing company based in Regina, Saskatchewan. RCAF Station Estevan was a World War II, British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) base operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). It was located South of the City of Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada. World War II (1942-4) On 27 April 1942, the airfield became home to the Royal Air Force's, No. 38 Service Flying Training School(SFTS). Torquay ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Cambria No. 6 and Census Division No. 2. It was named after Torquay in Devon, England. History Torquay was established in 1912 when the land was sold to the Canadian Pacific Railway for $2,400.
