Ottawa International Film Festival
The Ottawa International Film Festival (OIFF) was an Ottawa-based, publicly attended film festival that held its first annual competition in 2010. The festival ran annually for three days. The festival screened shorts and feature-length films of any genre and of any country of origin. The 2010 program yielded one full day of Canadian films and another day of international films. Closely linked to local 72-hour film challenges, the Second Ottawa International Film Festival ran from August 17–21, 2011. The 2011 program presented 24 short films and seven feature films, including three world premieres and one each of Canadian and Ottawa premieres. The festival closed with a competition of locally produced music videos and bands. Hollywood producer Aaron Ryder had been linked to the festival and provided a Q + A after screening his films ''Donnie Darko'' and '' Memento'' in the August program. Feature Films
A feature film or feature-length film is a narrative film (motion picture or "movie") with a running time long enough to be considered the principal or sole presentation in a commercial entertainment program. The term ''feature film'' originally referred to the main, full-length film in a cinema program that included a short film and often a newsreel. Matinee programs, especially in the US and Canada, in general, also included cartoons, at least one weekly serial and, typically, a second feature-length film on weekends. Aaron Ryder
Aaron Ryder is a prolific and Academy Award nominated feature film producer. Early in his career, he was a key creative element of Christopher Nolan's '' Memento'' (2000) and ''The Prestige'' (2006), and cult classic ''Donnie Darko'' (2001). As one of the founding members of FilmNation Entertainment, Ryder contributed greatly to the company’s creative direction and enduring success. ''Memento'' is a 2000 American neo-noir mystery thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and produced by Suzanne and Jennifer Todd. The film's script was based on a pitch by Nolan's brother Jonathan Nolan, who wrote the 2001 story " Memento Mori" from the concept. Guy Pearce stars as Leonard Shelby, a man who suffers from anterograde amnesia, resulting in short-term memory loss and the inability to form new memories. He is searching for the people who attacked him and killed his wife, using an intricate system of Polaroid photographs and tattoos to track information he cannot remember. The ''Ottawa Sun'' is a daily newspaper in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is published by Sun Media. It began publication in 1983 as the ''Ottawa Sunday Herald'', until it was acquired by (then) Toronto Sun Publishing Corporation in 1988. In April 2015, Sun Media papers were acquired by Postmedia. A Sunday edition of the newly named ''Ottawa Sun'' began publication on September 4, 1988 and a daily publication started on November 7, 1988. International Film Festival Of Ottawa
The International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO) is an international film festival, staged in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, organized by the Canadian Film Institute that was to hold its inaugural edition from March 25 to March 29, 2020. The festival, launched as a replacement for the defunct Ottawa International Film Festival, was to present 20 feature films and 20 short films and to be held at the Ottawa Art Gallery and other venues in downtown Ottawa.
