Origen (Juanes Album)
''Origen'' (English: ''Origin''), is the ninth studio album by Colombian musician Juanes. It was released on 28 May 2021 through Universal Music. The album is composed of twelve cover versions of songs by different artists, sung in both in English and Spanish. This album won Best Pop/Rock Album at the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards and Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Background and singles The production of the album started in late 2019, while the recording took place in 2020. The project consisted of twelve versions of songs that influenced the childhood and teenage years of the singer, according to Juanes: "''Origen'' is my personal tribute to several of those artists and songs that influenced me before my solo career". The first single of the album was a cover of the 1992 song "El amor después del amor" by the Argentine singer Fito Páez. Kraken is a rock band founded in Medellín, Colombia, in 1983. The current lineup consists of Roxana Restrepo (vocals), Andrés Leiva (guitar), Ricardo Wolff (guitar), Julian Puerto (drums), Luis Alberto Ramírez (bass guitar), and Rubén Gelvez (electronic keyboards). The sound of the band is characterized by a mixture of hard rock and heavy metal. Hugo Restrepo (born March 15, 1950) is a Colombian film producer, cultural critic and writer, whose work has exerted a profound influence on Colombian Neorealism and modern intellectual history. Elkin Ramírez
Elkin Ramírez (26 October 1962 – 29 January 2017) was a Colombian singer-songwriter, and leader of the band Kraken. Ramírez was born in the Belén neighborhood of Medellín, Antioquia, in October 1962. He was a self-taught artist, training himself and his vocal technique. He belonged to bands such as Kripzy (1981–1982) and Ferrotrack (1983–1984). In 1985, Ramirez joined Kraken as founder and leader. He was the author and composer of most of the band's songs, concept and lyrics; he was also the lead singer. In 2008, Ramírez debuted as an actor playing a hit man in the Colombian feature film ''Cain's Ethic'' (''La Etica de Cain'') directed by Edward Ruiz. "Nuestro juramento" is a bolero by Puerto Rican songwriter Benito de Jesús and popularized throughout Latin America by Ecuadorian singer Julio Jaramillo. Jaramillo's original recording of the song was made in 1956, featuring Rosalino Quintero on requinto guitar, and released in 1957 by Ónix. Alfredo Le Pera (4 June 1900 – 24 June 1935) was an Argentine journalist, dramatist, and lyricist, best known for his brief but fruitful collaboration with the renowned tango singer Carlos Gardel. He died in a plane accident with Gardel when he was at the height of his career.
