In 2000, his solo debut album ''Fíjate Bien'' won three Latin Grammy Awards. Juanes has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Raised in Colombia, Juanes began playing piano at age two. When Juanes was 17, he started his first band, Ekhymosis, in 1988, which went on to release eight albums, achieving recognition in his native country of Colombia. The track "Dos" from the album ''Niño Gigante'' in 1992 was very popular. ''Mi Sangre'' (''My Blood'') is the third studio album by Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes, released on September 28, 2004. Re-releases In 2005, a 'Tour Edition' of the album was released. This specially packaged re-release of ''Mi Sangre'' is an individually numbered, limited edition of 150,000 copies. Within its triple gatefold are two booklets — the CD's lyric book, a fold-out booklet with full credits of the current version, and many press quotes. "La Camisa Negra" ("The Black Shirt") is a Spanish rock song written by Juanes, inspired by Colombian singer-songwriter Octavio Mesa and recorded by Juanes for his third studio album ''Mi Sangre''. Ekhymosis
Ekhymosis are a Colombian rock band formed by Juan Esteban "Juanes" Aristizábal Vásquez, along with friends Andrés García, Fernando "Toby" Tobón and José David Lopera from Medellín. The band was created in 1988 with heavy influences from Metallica and other important metal acts of the 80s, as well as some popular Latino music. Career Even since their beginning as a metal band, Ekhymosis ( grc, ἐκχύμωσις , 'bruise') showed the same pro-Latino lyrics as Kraken. After some live performances to become known in their city (and more regions of Colombia), the band recorded a demo of two songs, which described the violence in Medellín and the injustice of innocent deaths and other problems in Colombia. ''Fíjate Bien'' (Spanish for ''Pay Attention'') is the debut studio album recorded by Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes, It was released by Surco Records on October 17, 2000 (see 2000 in music). The album was produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, who is known for his contributions to Latin rock tracks. All the songs on the album were written by Juanes himself.
