Omnisport Apeldoorn
The Omnisport Apeldoorn, also known as the Omnisportcentrum or simply called Omnisport, is a velodrome and multisport indoor arena in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects the facility opened in 2008, it is divided into two halls: a cycling hall containing cycling track and athletics track, and a volleyball hall. The cycling hall has a capacity for 5,000 spectators and the volleyball hall for 2,000. The complex has been operated by Libéma since 2012. In addition to its function as sports accommodation, Omnisport is used for business events such as fairs, congresses and meetings, and various public events such as music concerts. In 2013, a wing was added to the center that houses the De Voorwaarts shopping center. Besides the Omnisport Centre, there is a skating rink. Hong Kong Velodrome is a velodrome in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. It has a 250-metre cycling track and spectator facilities for 3,000 people. It opened on 30 December 2013 next to the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. History The Hong Kong government agreed to build the velodrome after Wong Kam-po won the gold medal for the men's road race in the 2006 Asian Games at Doha, amid concerns that athletes who represent Hong Kong had to rely on training facilities in China. Construction of the HK$1.1 billion venue got the legislative go-ahead in January 2010 and work began two months later. On 5 November 2012, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam kicked off construction of the Tseung Kwan O Velodrome, as it was then known. Ballerup Super Arena (formerly Siemens Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena, in Ballerup, Denmark. The velodrome has a seated capacity of 6,500. During concerts, the arena can accommodate an audience of up to 9,200. It is owned by Ballerup Municipality. The arena is also a venue for many company events, conferences, team building events, trade fairs, company sports events and cycling events. The arena was opened in 2001. The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and madison. Women's events are generally shorter than men's.
