Oldbury Town F.C.
Oldbury Town Football Club was an English football club from the Oldbury, then in Worcestershire. Foundation The success of the Crosswell's Brewery works side in the 1886–87 FA Cup, and the number of people from the town who went to West Bromwich Albion for the latter's home games, led businessmen in Oldbury to consider setting up a side for the town. There were two separate groups; one led by a Mr Morton of the Bell Hotel, which proposed Brooke Robinson, Member of Parliament for Dudley, as the club president, and one led by a Mr Garbett, who proposed renting a ground in Low Town from the Chance Brothers firm. The latter organization won out and Benjamin Hingley, MP for Oldbury's constituency of North Worcestershire, accepted a role as President. Benjamin Hingley
Sir Benjamin Hingley, 1st Baronet, (11 September 1830 – 13 May 1905) was an English ironmaster and Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1885 to 1895. Life Hingley was born at Cradley, Worcestershire, the son of Noah Hingley and his first wife Sarah Willett. He was educated at Halesowen Grammar School. He entered the family firms of Noah Hingley and Sons chain and anchor manufacturers and Hingley and Smith colliery proprietors. Hingley and Company had Iron Works at Netherton and Old Hill which were supplied with coal from two small mines at Dudley Wood and Primrose Hill. In 1865 on the death of his brother Hezekiah, he became head of the firms. He was Chairman of the South Staffordshire and East Worcestershire Ironmasters Association. West Midlands (Regional) League
The West Midlands (Regional) League is an English association football competition for semi-professional and amateur teams based in the West Midlands county, Shropshire, Worcestershire, southern Staffordshire and northern Herefordshire. It has two divisions, the highest of which is Division One, a regional feeder for the National League System (NLS) at the eleventh level of the overall English football league system.
