Furnes, Norway
Furnes is a village in Ringsaker Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located just west of the European route E6 highway, about from the town of Hamar to the southeast and the same distance from Brumunddal to the norhtwest. Furnes Church is located in the village. It was built in 1707 using some of the stone from the Cathedral Ruins in Hamar. This village was the administrative centre of the old Furnes Municipality that existed from 1891 until 1964. Name The village is named Furnes ( non, Furnes). The meaning of the first element is unknown. It is possible that the first part came from the old name of a local river such as ''Fura'' or it could be derived from the word ''furu'' which means "pine". The last element is ''nes'' which means " headland". Siviløkonom (literally "civil economist") is an academic degree issued within the field of business administration. It consists of a 3 year bachelor's degree followed by a two years masters degree and is also a professional title in Norway (with corresponding titles in Denmark and Sweden, see below under "See also"), obtained after the total of 5 years of studies. Johan Berthin Holte
Johan Berthin Holte (19 February 1915 – 1 April 2002) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Notodden as a son of chief administrative officer Peder Olaus Holte (1875–1943) and Lorentze Indorff (1890–19). In 1944 he married artist Eva Vibeke Bull (1922–1991). He graduated with a degree in chemistry from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1938. He was hired by Norsk Hydro in 1948 as head of their Notodden department. He advanced to become director of research from 1957 to 1964 and assisting director-general from 1964 to 1966. In 1967 he was hired as director-general (CEO). He stayed in this position until 1977; after this he was chairman of the board from 1977 to 1985. Torvild Aakvaag
Torvild Aakvaag (27 January 1927 – 9 April 2020) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Bærum, and was a cand.jur. by education. He was employed in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1951 to 1956, but left for a career in Norsk Hydro. He was promoted to head of the judicial department in 1967, and head of the petroleum department in 1970. He advanced to become assisting director-general in 1977, and director-general (CEO) in 1984. He succeeded Odd Narud. He stayed in this position until 1991; after this he was chairman of the board from 1992 to 1997. He has also been a board member of Orkla Borregaard, Storebrand and Nobel Industrier, and chaired Hydro Aluminium and Korn- og Foderstof Kompagniet.
