Noor Hussain Al-Malki
Noor Hussain Al-Malki (born 21 October 1994) is an Arab sprinter, and a member of the Qatari Olympic Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. By competing in London she became one of the first female athletes to represent the country at the Olympic Games. Malki was born the youngest of six brothers and five sisters. She began training as an athlete in 2008, under the guidance of Tunisian coach and former international middle-distance runner Naima Ben Amara. Although at first she lacked consistency in her training, she soon built a strong relationship with her coach, and became the fastest female Qatari athlete, winning the Qatar Association of Athletics Federation’s (QAAF) ‘Best Female Athlete’ in 2010-11. Malki considers fellow Qatari Femi Ogunode to be her sporting idol, and hopes to "become an idol" for other Qatari girls in the future. Femi Ogunode
Femi Seun Ogunode (born 15 May 1991 in Ondo City) is a Nigerian-born sprint athlete who competes internationally for Qatar since 2010. His personal best of 9.91 at 100 m in 2015 made him the former holder of the Asian 100m record, which was tied by China's Su Bingtian in 2018 and surpassed in 2021 at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Ogunode made his international debut for Qatar at the 2010 Asian Games and won a 200 metres/ 400 metres double. The following year he won Asian and Arab titles over 200 m as well as 100 metres/200 meter sprint titles at the 2011 Military World Games. He was a finalist in the 400 m at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. The women's 100 metres competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom was held at the Olympic Stadium on 3–4 August. In the preliminary round, Toea Wisil was the most impressive, winning with a relaxed 11.60 into a -1.6 mps wind, while Noor Hussain Al-Malki's Olympic experience lasted just the first steps out of the blocks before she pulled up. Qualifying into the next rounds, Wisil beat triple world champion Allyson Felix and the rest of her heat out of the blocks and came with in .05 of reaching the semi-final round, from the previously unqualified preliminary round.
