Nikolas Panagiotou
Nikolas Panayiotou ( el, Νικόλας Παναγιώτου; born 12 May 2000) is a Cypriot footballer who plays as a centre-back for Omonia and the Cyprus national team. Club career Having come through Anorthosis' academy, Panayiotou was promoted to their first team in April 2019. In July, he joined Omonia on a three-year contract, which he would later renew for another three years. On 6 October 2022, Panayiotou scored his first goal for Omonia, in a 2–3 home defeat to Manchester United, in the Europa League. This made him Omonia's 101st player to score in a European competition, setting a new record for a Cypriot club's number of European scorers. International career He made his debut for the Cyprus national football team on 1 September 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Malta, a 0–3 away loss. The Cypriot Super Cup is a Cypriot football trophy, contested in an annual match between the previous season's Cypriot First Division champions, and the Cypriot Cup winners. The match is contested at the beginning of the football season, and is usually played at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia. The most successful team in the competition are Omonia, who have won the trophy on 17 occasions. The current holders are Apollon Limassol, who defeated Omonia 2–0 in the 2022 match. History The first match was played in 1951, under the name Pakkos Shield (Greek: Ασπίδα Πάκκου). The Cypriot Cup () is the main cup competition in Cypriot football, run by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). It began in 1934, the same season with the Cypriot Championship. 2022–23 Cypriot First Division
The 2022–23 Cypriot First Division is the 84th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. Competition system 14 teams will participate in the 2022–23 First Division. It will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, all teams will play each other twice, one at home and one away. After the completion of the 26 matches (A phase) the teams will participate in 2 groups (depending on their position) and will play ranking matches (B phase). 2019–20 Cypriot First Division
The 2019–20 Cypriot First Division was the 81st season of the Cypriot top-level football league. On 15 May 2020, the rest of the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The title was withheld, and no teams were relegated, with the league expanded to 14 teams next season for a transitional year. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) Alki Oroklini and Ermis Aradippou were relegated at the end of the first-phase of the 2018–19 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table.
