Nick Firestone
Nicholas Stanley Firestone (born March 31, 1966) is an American former race car driver. A great-grandson of Harvey Samuel Firestone (founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company) and Idabelle Smith Firestone, Idabelle Smith, grandson of Roger (1912–1970) and son of Peter, he graduated from Princeton University in 1989. Starting in Karts, he moved to junior formula cars and finally on the British Formula 3000, British Formula 2 Championship. He competed in 42 Indy Lights races from 1993 to 1996. His best finish was second at Nazareth Speedway and The Milwaukee Mile in 1993. He attempted to qualify for the 1999 Indianapolis 500, 1999 Indianapolis 500 for McCormack Motorsports but failed to make the field. He has now moved back to racing Karts. He has two children, Peter and Annabel. Cajon Speedway
Cajon Speedway is a former oval race track near El Cajon, California. History Located between Gillespie Field and the San Vicente Freeway a 0.25 mile dirt oval track opened in 1961. Named Cajon Speedway the track expanded to a 0.375 mile dirt track in 1964. As of 1966 the 0.375 mile oval was paved. The track was founded by Earle Brucker Sr. who also founded El Cajon Stock Car Racing Association (ECSCRA). In 1978 the ECSCRA Super Stocks championship was won by Ron Esau. Between 1986 and 2004, local drivers also competed for the Whelen All-American Series crown. John Borneman Jr., father of Johnny Borneman III, won the track championship in 1992. Ricky Johnson won the track championship in 1995. In 2003, track owner Steve Brucker was murdered at his home in El Cajon. Mesa Marin Raceway
Mesa Marin Raceway was a paved oval race track, located near the junction of CA 178 and CA 184 (Kern Canyon Road), east of Bakersfield, California. It opened in 1977 and was owned by Marion Collins throughout its existence. The Collins family helped start the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (then-Craftsman SuperTruck Series) in 1995, and hosted nine races in that series at the track between 1995 and 2003. Mesa Marin also hosted 45 races for the Winston West Series and for NASCAR's Southwest Tour. The last race was held at Mesa Marin on October 16, 2005, as the track was sold for a housing development to be constructed on the site. Many of Mesa Marin's events were broadcast on television, including the 1995 Craftsman Truck Series race on ABC's '' Wide World of Sports'' and the NCTS on The Nashville Network and later ESPN. Willow Springs Raceway
Willow Springs International Motorsports Park (commonly referred to as Willow Springs) is located in Willow Springs near Rosamond, California, about north of Los Angeles. It is the oldest permanent road course in the United States. Construction began in 1952, with the inaugural race held on November 23, 1953. The main track is a long road course that is unchanged from its original 1953 configuration. The elevation changes and high average speeds make it a favorite of many road racing drivers. Willow Springs hosted two NASCAR Grand National races in 1956 and 1957 on the original road course (then known simply as Willow Springs Speedway), won by Chuck Stevenson and Marvin Panch respectively. Lola Cars International Ltd. was a British race car engineering company in operation from 1958 to 2012. The company was founded by Eric Broadley in Bromley, England (then in Kent, now part of Greater London), before moving to new premises in Slough, Buckinghamshire and finally Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and endured for more than fifty years to become one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of racing cars in the world.
