New View (Eleanor Friedberger Album)
''New View'' is the third studio album by American indie rock musician Eleanor Friedberger, released on January 22, 2016 on Frenchkiss Records. It was Friedberger’s first release on the label, and was also regarded as a departure for her, with a more minimalistic and folk-influenced sound. Upon its release, the album received universal acclaim from critics. It peaked within the top 20 of the US Heatseekers Albums chart, Friedberger’s third solo release to do so, and also became her highest-peaking entry on the Independent Albums chart. It was later ranked one of the year’s best albums by ''Uncut''. The album spawned two singles: "He Didn’t Mention His Mother" and "Sweetest Girl". Eleanor Friedberger
Eleanor Friedberger (born September 2, 1976) is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is best known as one half of the indie rock duo The Fiery Furnaces, alongside her older brother Matthew Friedberger. In the band she contributes the majority of the vocals both on record and during their live performances. In 2011, The Fiery Furnaces went on hiatus, with both Friedberger siblings embarking upon solo careers. To date Friedberger has released four solo studio albums: ''Last Summer'' (2011), ''Personal Record'' (2013), '' New View'' (2016), and '' Rebound'' (2018), all four of which have peaked in the top 20 of the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart. Elyse J. Weinberg (October 25, 1945 – February 20, 2020) was a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. In later life she used the name Cori Bishop. Biography Weinberg was born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. She and her family moved to Montreal when she was 12, and she started playing guitar. She began playing in folk clubs, and studied at McGill University, before dropping out in 1963 to pursue a music career in Toronto, where she played regularly in clubs and at the Mariposa Folk Festival. A widow (female) or widower (male) is a person whose spouse has died. Terminology The state of having lost one's spouse to death is termed ''widowhood''. An archaic term for a widow is "relict," literally "someone left over". This word can sometimes be found on older gravestones. William Everett Preston (September 2, 1946 – June 6, 2006) was an American keyboardist, singer and songwriter whose work encompassed R&B, rock, soul, funk, and gospel.
