Napier City Rovers FC
Napier City Rovers is a football team based in Napier, New Zealand, competing in the Central Premier League. Club history The team was founded in 1973 via a merger of Napier Rovers and Napier City. Napier City Rovers have won New Zealand's premier knockout football competition (the Chatham Cup) five times, in 1985, 1993, 2000, 2002, and 2019 won the old New Zealand National Soccer League in 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2000. They represented New Zealand at the Oceania Club Championship in 2001, finishing third. The Hawke's Bay region, of which Napier is a part, were represented by Napier City Soccer in the first year of New Zealand's new Football Championship in the summer of 2004, the only region that was not represented by an amalgamated franchise. That changed the following year with the change of name also to Hawke's Bay United. Park Island is the largest sports complex in Napier, New Zealand, Napier, New Zealand. It hosts clubs and facilities for association football (soccer), cricket, hockey, netball and rugby union. It includes Bluewater Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium that has a capacity of 5,000 people and opened in 1985. 2002 Chatham Cup
The 2002 Chatham Cup was the 75th annual nationwide knockout football competition in New Zealand. Up to the last 16 of the competition, the cup was run in three regions (northern, central, and southern), with an open draw from the quarter-finals on. The competition comprised a preliminary round and four rounds proper followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The competition was held considerably earlier in the year than normal, with the final being held in July rather than September. In all, 136 teams took part in the competition. The nine eligible National League clubs entered the tournament at the third round stage. One National League side, Canterbury United, was ineligible, as it was an amalgamated team formed from several clubs within the Canterbury region, each of which competed in the Chatham Cup individually. Labasa (pronounced ) is a town in Fiji with a population of 27,949 at the most recent census held in 2007. Labasa is located in Macuata Province, in the north-eastern part of the island of Vanua Levu, and is the largest town on the island. The town itself is located on a delta formed by three rivers – the Wailevu, the Labasa (after which the town is named), and the Qawa. The latter two are connected by an 8-kilometre canal. The OFC Champions League, also known as the O-League, is the premier men's club soccer competition in Oceania. It is organised by the OFC, Oceania's football governing body. Beginning as the Oceania Club Championship (1987–2006), it has been organised since 2007 under its current format. The first four Club Championship titles were won by Australian clubs. 2001 Oceania Club Championship
The 2001 Oceania Club Championships was held in January 2001. The tournament was designed to decide the Oceania Football Confederation's entrant into the 2001 FIFA Club World Championship; however that Club World Championship tournament was cancelled by FIFA. The competition was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, with all matches held at the Lloyd Robson Stadium. The tournament was won by Australian club Wollongong Wolves.
