2002 Chatham Cup
The 2002 Chatham Cup was the 75th annual nationwide knockout football competition in New Zealand. Up to the last 16 of the competition, the cup was run in three regions (northern, central, and southern), with an open draw from the quarter-finals on. The competition comprised a preliminary round and four rounds proper followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The competition was held considerably earlier in the year than normal, with the final being held in July rather than September. In all, 136 teams took part in the competition. The nine eligible National League clubs entered the tournament at the third round stage. One National League side, Canterbury United, was ineligible, as it was an amalgamated team formed from several clubs within the Canterbury region, each of which competed in the Chatham Cup individually. Greerton is a major suburb of Tauranga, the largest city in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand. Greerton is named after Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Harpur Greer, commander of the British forces during the Battle of Gate Pā. Melville United AFC is an amateur football club in Melville, Hamilton, New Zealand. It competes in the Northern League. History The club was formed in 1996 from the merger of Melville AFC (founded 1972) and Waikato United (founded 1988). Western Springs AFC is an association football club in Westmere, Auckland. Western Springs AFC is one of New Zealand's largest clubs. Both the Senior Women's and Senior Men's teams currently play in the Northern League. Manurewa (soccer)
Manurewa AFC is an amateur football (soccer) club in Manurewa, Auckland, New Zealand. They will compete in Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1 with newly appointed head coach Marty Rodwell History Manurewa AFC was formed by the merger of Tramways (1929 Chatham Cup winner) and another club named Manurewa. The merged entity initially used the portmanteau name of Tramurewa, during which time the club won the 1931 Chatham Cup. Tramuwera reverted to the name of Manurewa in 1959, the name currently used by the club. Manurewa competed in the New Zealand National Soccer League from 1979 to 1992, finishing as champions in 1983. North Force was set up late in 2003 by Kamo & Tikipunga Football clubs so that a combined team could be entered in either the US1 Federation League or the Northern Federations Football League, and to create a pathway for players to compete at the highest possible levels. Havelock North Wanderers is a soccer club in Havelock North, New Zealand. The club was formed in 1947 as Hastings Wanderers, changing to their current name in 1968. They won promotion to the New Zealand Football Central League (New Zealand), Central League for 2022 after finishing first in the Lotto Central Federation League, then beating Wellington United 6–6 in a home and away playoff by Away goals rule, away goals.
