Constituency NA-172 (Dera Ghazi Khan-II) ( ur, این اے-۲۱۷، ڈیرہ غازيخان-۲) was a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan. It comprised mainly the city of Dera Ghazi Khan and the tehsil of Kot Chutta. After the 2018 delimitations, these areas have been included in NA-191 (Dera Ghazi Khan-III) and NA-192 (Dera Ghazi Khan-IV) respectively; as a district was allocated an additional constituency after the 2017 Census. Election 2002 General elections were held on 10 Oct 2002. Farooq Ahmad Khan Laghari of National Alliance won by 56,343 votes. Election 2008 General elections were held on 18 Feb 2008. Dera Ghazi Khan District
Dera Ghazi Khan (Urdu and pnb, , Saraiki: , bal, ڈیرہ غازی خان) is a district in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Its capital is the town of Dera Ghazi Khan. Most of its inhabitants are Saraikis and Baloch. The district lies to the west of the Indus River. The Sulaiman Mountains rise to a height of in the north of the district. Dera Ghazi Khan (), abbreviated as D.G. Khan, is a city in the southwestern part of Punjab, Pakistan. It is the 19th largest city of Pakistan by population. Lying west of the Indus River, it is the headquarters of Dera Ghazi Khan District and Dera Ghazi Khan Division. Kot Chutta ( ur, ) is a tehsil administrative subdivision of Dera Ghazi Khan District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. Kot Chutta is situated off the Indus Highway. The area is known for its fertile agricultural land and for the production of various crops. Its major union councils are Choti Zaireen, Jhoke Uttra, Basti Malana and Jhakkar Imam sharif. 2017 Census Of Pakistan
The 2017 Census of Pakistan was a detailed enumeration of the Pakistani population which began on 15 March 2017 and ended on 25 May 2017. It was the first census taken in the country in the 21st century, nineteen years after 1998 Census of Pakistan, the previous one in 1998, and it was carried out by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The census recorded a total population throughout the country of 213,222,917. The results showed a massive population increase having occurred between 1998 and 2017 of 77.0 Million people, or an increase of +56.5%. The results also marked a significant overperformance compared to estimations made of the Pakistani population before the census, which had previously estimated the Pakistani population in 2017 to be 195 Million – 200 Million. Farooq Ahmad Khan Laghari
Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari ( ur, ; 29 May 194020 October 2010), was a Pakistani politician who served as the eighth president of Pakistan from 14 November 1993 until resigning on 2 December 1997. He is the first Baloch to have been elected as president. Born into a Baloch tribal and influential feudal family, Leghari was educated at Aitchison College, the Forman Christian College in Pakistan, and St Catherine's College, Oxford in United Kingdom.
