History An armed group attacked Nzakoundou on 2 January 2022, killing two people and burning twenty houses. Later, they withdrew from the village after being chased by FACA. 3R rebels captured the village from FACA on 22 March 2022. They killed two soldiers, and FACA retreated towards Kowone. Due to the rebel attack, the villagers sought refuge in the bush. Later, FACA recaptured the village. On 22 December 2023, 21 people were killed by militants. Ngaoundaye
Ngaoundaye is a Sub-prefectures of the Central African Republic, sub-prefecture of Lim-Pendé in the Central African Republic. Geography Ngaoundaye is located near the borders of Chad and Cameroon : 5 km from Chad, 20 km from Cameroon, 70 km from Bocaranga and 600 km northwest of Bangui . History The locality is erected in sub-prefecture of Ouham-Pendé on May 2, 2002 by dismemberment of the sub-prefecture of Bocaranga. In June 2007, following the murder of the sous-préfet, the Central African army burned part of the town. The Central African Armed Forces (french: Forces armées centrafricaines; FACA) are the armed forces of the Central African Republic and have been barely functional since the outbreak of the civil war in 2012. Today they are among the world's weakest armed forces, dependent on international support to provide security in the country. In recent years the government has struggled to form a unified national army. It consists of the Ground Force (which includes the air service), the gendarmerie, and the National Police. Return, Reclamation, Rehabilitation (3R, french: Retour, Réclamation et Réhabilitation) is a rebel group in the northwestern part of Central African Republic. History The group was formed in December 2015 to protect Fulani herders from Anti-balaka militia attacks. On 27 September 2016, they captured the town of De Gaulle (now Koui) killing at least 17 civilians.
