Nybrua Tram Stop
Nybrua is a tram station which was opened in February 2021. It is served by lines 11, 12, 17 and 18. It is located near where the old tram station, ''Hausmanns gate'' stood. It is located between Storgata tram stop, Storgata (westbound) and Schous plass (Grünerløkka–Torshov Line, Grünerløkka-Torshov Line) and Heimdalsgata (Sinsen Line). It is served with both SL79 and SL95 trams. SL18 trams also serve the station on routes 17 and 18. History In the past, a station called Nybrua was served by lines 11, 12 & 13 and it was located on Thorvald Meyers gate. Unfortunately, it was closed temporarily in 2012 and again in 2015 permanently due to its proximity to other stations nearby. In the late 2010s, the street of Storgata was closed for repair and Hausmanns gate was disestablished in the process. SL79 is a class of 40 articulated trams operated by the Oslo Tramway of Norway. The trams were a variation of the Duewag trams that had been developed by the German manufacturer since the 1950s. The six-axle vehicles are unidirectional with four doors on the right side. The trams can seat 77 passengers three and four abreast, with an additional 91 people able to stand. Power output is , provided by two motors on the two end bogies, that supplement a central unpowered Jacobs bogie located under the articulation. The trams are long and wide. Nybrua Holdeplass
Nybrua is a bridge over the Aker River (''Akerselva'') in Oslo, Norway. History Nybrua bridge, which was built in 1827, lies in the district of Grünerløkka. It is crossed by Storgata which continues as Trondheimsveien on the eastern side of the river. At the same time, Storgata was lengthened and the lower part of Trondheimsveien was created. As Oslo's major entrance point from the north, it became a part of ''Trondhjemske hovedvei'' which starts at Nybrua and goes to the city limits at Vestli. Later, Vaterland Bridge, as well as Brugata and Lakkegata streets were also added to the route, to the north of the city. The SL18 ''(short for Sporvogn Ledd, commissioned in 2018)'' is a series of 87 low-floor, articulated trams currently being phased-in on the Oslo Tramway network. They will continue to be phased-in until 2024, when the last SL79s and SL95s are replaced. They were purchased from the Spanish tram manufacturer, CAF. The first one was shipped and unveiled at Grefsen depot in 2020, and regular operation begun in 2022. The entire purchase has a price of 4.2 billion krones. SL95 is a series of 32 low-floor, articulated trams operated on the Oslo Tramway. The series was built by Italian rail manufacturer Ansaldo/Firema, later known as AnsaldoBreda (now Hitachi Rail Italy), and delivered between 1999 and 2004. Capacity for the eight-axle, three-section vehicles is 212 passengers, of which 88 can be seated. The name derives from being ordered in 1995. Original plans called for the delivery to be between 1997 and 1998. Delivery took many years due to a magnitude of technical flaws, including high noise levels, freezing during the winter and corrosion. The trams are long, wide and tall. Schous plass (Schou Square) is a square in the southern part of the borough of Grünerløkka in Oslo, Norway. History The area belonged to Aker municipality until 1858, when it was incorporated into Christiania (Oslo). It was laid out in 1873, and got its name in 1874. Its namesake was brewery owner Christian Schou, who died in the same year. Storgata Tram Stop
Storgata tram stop is located on the Grünerløkka–Torshov Line and the Sinsen Line, between the stations of Jernbanetorget and Nybrua. It is served by four tram lines, two bus services and two night bus services. SL79, SL95 and SL18 trams serve the station. Storgata is also nearby the Folketeateret, which is a cultural theatre and the Gunerius shopping centre. It is also in close proximity to the Oslo Cathedral. There are Narvesen kiosks on both sides of the tram stop (they are not on the platforms.) History Storgata was opened on the 21st of June, 2021, and was accompanied by the closure of Lilletorget (a temporary tram station to replace the old station of Brugata).
