Numafung
Numafung is a 2004 Nepalese film that portrays the culture and tradition of the Limbu community. It is directed by Nabin Subba. Nabin Subba
Nabin Subba ( Limbu) (born 14 December 1967) is a Nepalese film director, screenwriter and producer. He is generally regarded as a leading figure and pioneer of the "Fourth Cinema" movement in Nepalese cinema, making the film base on Nepalese indigenous community. His works '' Khangri'' and '' Numafung'' were awarded in many film festivals around the globe. His last major project was ''Goodbye Kathmandu'', which is due for release soon. He also directed a 52-episode TV serial called ''Dalan'', about Dalit (the untouchables in Nepal), which he completed in 2006 and which aired from NTV 2008/2009. Alok Nembang
Alok Nembang was a Nepali film director. He was also a well-known music video director in Nepal for more than a decade. Career After returning to Nepal from the United States, where he gained knowledge about theater and film-making, Alok directed over 500 music videos of Nepali music. In an interview he had once stated, "I am inspired by many things and incorporate them on my work but I don't copy". He began his career as a VJ in Image Channel in Nepal in 1998. His debut music video was ''Lakhau Patak'' by Nabin K. Bhattarai. Alok acted in the Limbu language film ''Numafung'' in 2004. His passion for making films was fulfilled with the production of '' Sano Sansar'' (2008), which was a big hit. Limbu (Limbu: , ''yakthuṅ pan'') is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by the Limbu people of Nepal and Northeastern India (particularly Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim, Assam and Nagaland) as well as expatriate communities in Bhutan. The Limbu refer to themselves as ''Yakthung'' and their language as ''Yakthungpan.'' Yakthungpan has four main dialects: Phedape, Chhathare, Tambarkhole and Panthare dialects. Limbu People
The Limbu (exonym) or Yakthung (endonym) are a Sino-Tibetan indigenous tribe (Bhot-Burmeli) of the Himalayan region of eastern Nepal, Sikkim, and western Bhutan. The original name of the Limbu is ''Yakthung'' () or ''Yakthum''. Limbu males are called ''Yakthungba'' or ''Yakthumba'' and Limbu females are called "Yakthumma" or "Yakthungma". Ancient texts state that "Yakthung" or "Yakthum" is a derivative of Yaksha and some interpret its meaning as the "Yaksha winner". In the Limbu language it means "heroes of the hills" (Yak - hills, thung or thum - heroes or mighty warriors), which connotates with the ancient Kiratis. Subba is a title given by the Shah Kings only to Limbu village chiefs. Subba was not an indigenous Yakthung terminology, but now the two terms are almost interchangeable.
