Noise Production
Mike Not (a.k.a. Mika Paju) is a creator of techno music from Tampere, Finland, though he has also produced industrial music (influenced by Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson et al.), hip-hop, breakbeat, acid house, experimental music and so on. Mike Not has created music and worked as a DJ from 1987. Mike Not borrowed his alias from Spanish DJ Mike Platinas, performing initially as Mike "Not" Platinas, but eventually the name was shortened to Mike Not. Mike Not is mainly known for his Noise Production project, but Mike has also worked as a sound engineer and producer for many other acts, such as Finnish hip-hop acts Petri Nygård and Nuera, Tampere's gothic rock band Suruaika and some others. Techno Music
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat. Artists may use electronic instruments such as drum machines, sequencers, and synthesizers, as well as digital audio workstations. Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Kompleksi ("complex" in Finnish) is an electro act from Tampere, Finland. It was formed in 2002, consisting of Mike Not (best known from his Noise Production solo project) and pHinn (best known as the Webmaster of pHinnWeb music and culture site). Gothic Rock
Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk. Gothic rock stood out due to its darker sound, with the use of primarily minor or bass chords, reverb, dark arrangements, or dramatic and melancholic melodies, having inspirations in gothic literature allied with themes such as sadness, nihilism, dark romanticism, tragedy, melancholy and morbidity. Petri Nygård
Petri Jukka Mikael Laurila (born 8 February 1975), better known by his stage name Petri Nygård, is a Finnish rapper. He is also known under alias Dream (in rap duo Nuera) and as Travis Bicle. He has gained notoriety for his sexually explicit and misogynistic lyrics and his provocative stage shows (which often include nude women, pyrotechnics, drunk fans and giant inflatable vagina sculptures). His lyrical themes often focus on alcohol, parties, sex, women, pornography, hangover, masturbation, dissing Finnish celebrities and satirizing popculture and phenomena. Acid House
Acid house (also simply known as just "acid") is a subgenre of house music developed around the mid-1980s by DJs from Chicago. The style is defined primarily by the squelching sounds and basslines of the Roland TB-303 electronic bass synthesizer-sequencer, an innovation attributed to Chicago producers DJ Pierre of Phuture and Sleezy D. Acid house soon became popular in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, where it was played by DJs in the acid house and later rave scenes. By the late 1980s, acid house had moved into the British mainstream, where it had some influence on pop and dance styles. Acid house brought house music to a worldwide audience. Breakbeat is a broad type of electronic music that tends to use drum breaks sampled from early recordings of funk, jazz, and R&B.
