Nixon Chowdhury
Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (known as Nixon Chowdhury; born 3 March 1978) is a Bangladeshi politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Faridpur-4 constituency. Early life Chowdhury was born on 3 March 1978 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He came from a Bengali Muslim family of Chowdhuries from the village of Duttapara in Shibchar, Madaripur District. His parents, Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury and Sheikh Feroza Begum, were cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. His father was a politician and came from a ''zamindar'' family whilst his mother, Sheikh Feroza Begum, was a housewife. Chowdhury had Iraqi Arab ancestry through both of his grandmothers, who were direct descendants of the 15th-century Muslim preacher Sheikh Awwal of Baghdad. 2014 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014, in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014. The elections were not free and fair. They were preceded by a government crackdown on the opposition, with Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Opposition leader Khaleda Zia was put under house arrest. There were widespread arrests of other opposition members, violence and strikes by the opposition, attacks on religious minorities, and extrajudicial killings by the government, with around 21 people killed on election day. Kazi Zafarullah (born April 1947) is a Bangladeshi industrialist and politician, a member of the ruling party, the Bangladesh Awami League's 12-member Presidium, its central working committee, and a former MP from Faridpur-5. Early life Zafarullah was born in April 1947, the eldest son of Kazi Mahbubullah and Begum Zebunnessa. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair.
