Nil Yalter
Nil Yalter (born 1938) is a Turkish contemporary feminist artist. She attended Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey and currently lives and works in Paris. Her work, which is included in many collections and museums, includes not only drawings and photographs, but also videos and performance art. In fact she is the first Turkish female video artist. Early life Nil Yalter was born in 1938 in Cairo, Egypt where she lived until the age of four. She is Turkish and later in her life became also a French national. She received her education from Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey. She started painting at an early age and took dance and ballet classes. In 1956, she traveled to India on foot while practicing pantomime. She had her first exhibition of paintings inspired by this travel at the French Cultural Institute in Mumbai (Bombay) in 1957. Cairo
Cairo ( ; ar, القاهرة, al-Qāhirah, ) is the capital of Egypt and its largest city, home to 10 million people. Renat Nelli
Renat Nelli (), who was born in Carcassonne, Aude in 1906 and died in 1982, was one of the major Occitan writers of the 20th century. In Vichy France, Nelli joined the French Resistance and in 1945 was one of the co-founders of the Institut d'Estudis Occitans. He also co-wrote the special issue of the ''Cahiers du Sud'' magazine on "the Genius of Òc and the Mediterranean Man" (1943), in which the three main lines of his literary mission stand out: the publication and translation of medieval Occitan poets; publishing his own poems; and being a critic. Centre Georges Pompidou
The Centre Pompidou (), more fully the Centre national d'art et de culture Georges-Pompidou ( en, National Georges Pompidou Centre of Art and Culture), also known as the Pompidou Centre in English, is a complex building in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Halles, rue Montorgueil, and the Marais. İstanbul Modern
İstanbul Modern, a.k.a. Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, ( tr, İstanbul Modern Sanat Müzesi) is a museum of contemporary art in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey. Inaugurated on December 11, 2004, the museum focuses on artists from Turkey. Levent Çalıkoğlu is the Museum Director General, and Oya Eczacıbaşı serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors. Location The museum opened in a former maritime warehouse called Antrepo #4, repurposed by Tabanlıoğlu Architects. Tate Modern is an art gallery located in London. Frac Lorraine
The Frac Lorraine, also known as 49 Nord 6 Est, is a public collection of contemporary art of the Grand Est region in France. It is located in Metz. History Regional collections of contemporary art (Fracs) were created in 1982 by the French Minister of Culture to disseminate contemporary art within each region of France. Set up within the political context of decentralization, Fracs were established on the principle that financing would be shared between the state and the regional councils. Fracs have three complementary missions: to collect the contemporary art of local, as well as, international artists, to take art out into a broad public, and to educate people about arts. Cornelia Butler
Cornelia H. "Connie" Butler (born 1 February 1963) is an American museum curator, author, and art historian. Since 2013, Butler is the Chief Curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Career Butler is a 1980 graduate of Marlborough School, and a 1984 graduate of Scripps College. From 2006 to 2013, she served as the Robert Lehman Foundation Chief Curator of Drawings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Prior to that, she was a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA), from 1996 to 2006.
