The 2013 Night of Champions was the seventh annual Night of Champions professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It took place on September 15, 2013, at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This was WWE's last pay-per-view event to take place at the Joe Louis Arena before its closure in 2017, and future WWE events in Detroit where held at Little Caesars Arena. The theme of the event was that every championship promoted on WWE's main roster at the time was defended. The event received 175,000 buys, down from the last year's event of 189,000. Kofi Kingston
Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah (born August 14, 1981) is a Ghanaian-born American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Kofi Kingston. He appeared on WWE's NXT brand as one-half of the current NXT Tag Team Champions with Xavier Woods in their first reign. After graduating from Boston College, he decided to pursue a professional wrestling career, and began performing on the New England independent circuit as a Jamaican wrestler by the name of Kofi Nahaje Kingston. The World Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship owned by WWE. It was one of two top championships in WWE from 2002 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2013, complementing the WWE Championship, and one of three top championships from 2006 to 2010 with the addition of the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan Lloyd Danielson (born May 22, 1981) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club. In professional wrestling, kayfabe, as a noun, is the portrayal of staged events within the industry as "real" or "true", specifically the portrayal of competition, rivalries, and relationships between participants as being genuine and not staged. The term ''kayfabe'' has evolved to also become a code word of sorts for maintaining this "reality" within the direct or indirect presence of the general public.
