Nicolai Munch-Hansen
Nicolai Munch-Hansen (11 May 1977 – 20 February 2017) was a Danisch Jazz and Rock musician (Upright bass, Guitar bass, composer). Biography From the 1990s Much-Hansen played on the Danish rock and jazz scene among others with John Tchicai, Kresten Osgood, Nikolaj Nørlund, Tim Christensen, Jens Unmack, Caroline Henderson, Steffen Brandt, the ''Brande International Music Workshop Orchestra'' with Marilyn Mazur (''A Story of Multiplicity'', 1997), Rokia Traoré and with Hans Ulrik, in addition he played in the blues band of his wife Kira Skov. In 2010 he released his debut album ''Chronicles'' (Stunt Records), with Jakob Bro, Søren Kjærgaard, Ned Ferm and Mads Hyhne. Recently he released another album with the alternative rock singer Peter Laugesen. Jakob Bro (born April 11, 1978) is a Danish guitarist and composer. Career Bro leads a trio with Joey Baron and Thomas Morgan. In the fall of 2016 the trio released the album ''Streams'' ( ECM). Bro also works with Palle Mikkelborg and Bro/Knak, a collaboration with the Danish electronica producer Thomas Knak. Bro is a former member of the Paul Motian Band (''Garden of Eden'', ECM, 2006) and a member of Tomasz Stanko's Dark Eyes Quintet ('' Dark Eyes'', ECM, 2009). Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Hans Ulrik (born 28 September 1965) is a Danish jazz saxophonist and composer who has recorded with Gary Peacock, Adam Nussbaum, Niels Lan Doky, Audun Kleive, Marilyn Mazur, John Scofield, and Steve Swallow. Career Ulrik studied jazz saxophone at Berklee College of Music in Boston (1984–86). He continued his studies after a visit in New York City (1986) until 1987. Marilyn Mazur
Marilyn Mazur (born January 18, 1955) is an American-born Danish percussionist. Since 1975, she has worked as a percussionist with various groups, among them Six Winds with Alex Riel. Mazur is primarily an autodidact, but she has a degree in percussion from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Musical life Mazur was born in New York City in 1955, from Polish and African-American parents, who moved with her to Denmark at age 6. She learned to play the piano, but when she was 19, she took up drumming, inspired by Al Foster, Airto Moreira, and Alex Riel. She started her first band in 1973, ''Zirenes''. In 1978, she formed ''Primi'', an all-woman theatre band. In 1985, she was asked to participate in the Palle Mikkelborg project that would become the Miles Davis album '' Aura'', and soon after she went on the road with Miles Davis. Caroline Henderson (singer)
Caroline Henderson (born 28 February 1962) is a Danish–Swedish pop and jazz singer. She moved to Copenhagen from Sweden in 1983 and spent her youth singing in various jazz bands. Her breakthrough was in 1989 as part of pop group Ray Dee Ohh. After the group disbanded, Henderson launched a solo career with multi award-winning album ''Cinemataztic'' (1995) featuring smash hits "Kiss Me Kiss Me" and "Made in Europe". Follow-up ''Metamorphing'' (1998), disco cover album ''Dolores J - The Butterfly'' (2000) and the more experimental ''Naos'' (2002) didn't have the same commercial impact.
