Nicola (artist)
Nicoleta Alexandru (; born 5 November 1968), whose stage name is Nicola (), is a Romanian singer. She is best known for representing Romania at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest. Life and career Nicoleta Alexandru was born in Bucharest, Romania. Nicola began her solo career in 1992 and has since toured extensively and made numerous television, radio and stage appearances. In 2003, she was awarded the Woman of the Year award by ''Avantaje'' magazine, her song "Lângă mine" was awarded "The Song of the Year" prize by București and Actualitati Radio stations, and she was awarded Mamaia and Love Song Festival trophies for the same song. On 1 March 2003, after a huge response to her song " Don't Break My Heart," Nicola won the Romanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest at Riga. It was recorded at the Studioul Adi Ordean and was released as a CD single in 2004 by Romanian Television (TVR). Marcel Pavel (; born 4 December 1959, in Galați County) is a folk music singer in Romania. His singing talents brought him to the top of the Romanian charts more than once. In 2002, Marcel was elected as ''The best male voice''. His first hit was "Frumoasa mea" by Ovidiu Komornyc. His latest album is "Te vreau langa mine" (I want you near me). One of his songs: 'Unde esti?'(Where are you?) was chosen as the best song in 2001. In 2002, he won the national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest together with Monica Anghel. Their song "Tell me why" reached ninth place, the best score ever for Romania at that time. Monica Anghel (; born 1 June 1971 in Bucharest, Romania) is a Romanian singer and television personality. In 1996, she took part in the international preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The Romanian song "Rugă pentru pacea lumii" was not chosen to go to the international final in Oslo. In the same year, she won the "Golden Stag Festival" for Romania. Anghel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn, with Marcel Pavel. Their song " Tell Me Why" reached the 9th place, which was the third best score ever for Romania. A few years later Anghel started to collaborate with comic group Divertis.
