New York State Route 426
New York State Route 426 (NY 426) is a state highway located entirely within Chautauqua County, New York, in the United States. It runs just over from one section of the Pennsylvania state line to another, passing through two small hamlets and providing the Southern Tier Expressway ( Interstate 86 or I-86 and NY 17) with its westernmost exit in New York. NY 426 is the westernmost north–south state highway in New York. At both crossings of the state line it continues as Pennsylvania Route 426 (PA 426). It is the only other state highway besides NY 440 that can claim the distinction of being a middle segment of another state's similarly-numbered highway. The New York–Pennsylvania border is the state line between the U.S. states of New York and Pennsylvania. It has three sections: * Along the center line of the Delaware River from the Tri-States Monument tripoint with New Jersey at the confluence of the Delaware with the Neversink River in Port Jervis, New York to the 42nd parallel north between Hancock, New York and Deposit, New York about 2.8 km downstream from Hale Eddy; above Hancock this is the West branch of the Delaware; * Across the 42nd parallel north to the corner of the Erie Triangle; * North along the east boundary of the Erie Triangle to Lake Erie. The survey of the 42nd parallel north was carried out in 1785–86 and accepted by the two states in 1787. General Drafting Corporation of Convent Station, New Jersey, founded by Otto G. Lindberg in 1909, was one of the "Big Three" road map publishers in the United States from 1930 to 1970, along with H.M. Gousha and Rand McNally.General Drafting Co., Inc. company brochure, 1982. Unlike the other two, General Drafting did not sell its maps to a variety of smaller customers, but was the exclusive publisher of maps for Standard Oil of New Jersey, later Esso and Exxon.
