New Territories West Cluster
New Territories West Cluster () is one of the seven hospital clusters managed by Hospital Authority in Hong Kong. It consists of four public hospitals and eight general outpatient clinics to provide public healthcare services for the population of Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts. In mid-2012, the population was 1,085,300. The current Cluster Chief Executive is Dr Simon Tang. Services New Territories West Cluster operates the following four hospitals of various capabilities to provide a range of acute, convalescent, rehabilitation, and infirmary inpatient and ambulatory care services to the public in the areas of Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts. Hospital Authority
The Hospital Authority is a statutory body managing all the government hospitals and institutes in Hong Kong. It is under the governance of its board and is under the monitor of the Secretary for Food and Health of the Hong Kong Government. Its chairman is Henry Fan. History Before the establishment of the authority, all health and medical issues were under the management of the Medical and Health Department. In 1990, a new health administration system was introduced as part of the 1989 reforms. The establishment of the Authority served to rebuild state capacity amid the emergence of party politics in Hong Kong. The department became the Department of Health and in 1991, the management of all the public hospitals was passed to a new statutory body, the Hospital Authority, which was established on 1 December 1990 under the Hospital Authority Ordinance. Tuen Mun District
Tuen Mun District is one of the 18 administrative districts of Hong Kong. It is the westernmost continental district of Hong Kong. It had a population of 487,546 in 2011. Yuen Long District
Yuen Long District (formerly romanised as Un Long) is one of the districts of Hong Kong. Located in the northwest of the New Territories, it had a population of 662,000 in 2021 Geography Yuen Long District contains the largest alluvial plain in Hong Kong, the Yuen Long-Kam Tin plain. Tin Shui Wai Hospital
Tin Shui Wai Hospital () is a public hospital in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong. The 300-bed hospital is part of the New Territories West Cluster serving the population of Yuen Long and Tuen Mun districts, particularly those in the Tin Shui Wai New Town. It opened in 2017. History As the population of Tin Shui Wai continued to grow, the need for a hospital in the area became apparent. Hospital Authority had initially rejected the proposal of constructing a hospital in the area due to limited resources. Castle Peak Hospital
Castle Peak Hospital is the oldest and largest psychiatric hospital in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. It has located at the east of Castle Peak in Tuen Mun, the hospital was established in 1961. Pok Oi Hospital
Pok Oi Hospital () is a charitable district general hospital in Hong Kong, serving the northwest New Territories. Located in Au Tau in Yuen Long, it was founded by residents in 1919 when Yuen Long was a still rural town. The hospital later became a charity organisation, and extended its services to include schools, homes for the elderly, social welfare and other areas. The hospital is now funded and managed by the charity and Hospital Authority. History A local shop owner, Wong Shu-kiu, reportedly conceived the hospital idea in 1913, and a village elder supported it. The hospital opened in 1919 as a "small dispensary and sick bay". Siu Lam Hospital
Siu Lam Hospital, located in Tuen Mun, is the only hospital in Hong Kong providing comprehensive rehabilitation and infirmary services exclusively for patients with severe intellectual disability aged 16 or above. Tuen Mun Hospital is a public hospital, with a 24-hour Emergency department, accident and emergency department, in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong.
