The New Future Coalition Party ( no, Samlingspartiet Ny Fremtid, SNF) was a Norway, Norwegian political party, which was founded by Member of Parliament Finn Thoresen in 1993. The party was never successful in elections, and merged with the Christian Conservative Party to form the Christian Unity Party in 1998. History The party was founded in early 1993 by Member of Parliament Finn Thoresen, after he had defected from the Progress Party (Norway), Progress Party in late 1992. It put up lists in all counties of Norway in the election of the same year and received around 8,000 votes, far away from parliamentary representation by any county. The Christian Unity Party (1993), Christian Unity Party (''Det Kristne Samlingsparti'') merged into the party in 1994. In the election of 1997, the party was reduced to setting up lists in only two counties. Ivar Kristianslund
Ivar Kristianslund (1 January 1934 – 20 April 2023) was a Norwegian preacher, former professor of statistics, agronomist, farmer and politician. He was active as a Christian fundamentalist preacher in the self-proclaimed "Deanery of Strandebarm, Church of Norway in Exile", and was active in the leadership of several minor Christian right political parties from the late 1990s. Education and career Kristianslund was educated as an agronomist from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norwegian College of Agriculture (NLH) in 1959, and as cand.oecon. from the University of Oslo in 1962. He became Doctor of Science, dr. scient. from NLH in 1963, and Doctor of Philosophy, dr. philos. in agricultural economics from the Michigan State University in 1972. He worked most of his career at the NLH writing numerous books and dissertations, and was leader of the institute of social economics at the Oslo Business School from 1989 to 1992. The Progress Party ( nb, Fremskrittspartiet; nn, Framstegspartiet; se, Ovddádusbellodat), commonly abbreviated as FrP, is a right-wing political party in Norway. The Christian Conservative Party ( no, Kristent Konservativt Parti, KKP) was a political party in Norway which was originally formed in 1965 as the Democratic Party of Norway. The party was later also known as the Christian Democrats and the Peace Party, before it became the KKP. The party was for many of its last years led by Paul Granberg, however with his death the remaining power in the movement withered. The party never achieved any large following. History The party was founded in 1965 as the Democratic Party of Norway (''Norges Demokratiske Parti'') by Sverre Skien in Karmøy. The party was at first a minor conservative party with its largest following by maritime workers. The party did not receive much attention, until 1979, when the party was couped by Leif Karlung who used it to put up extreme-right persons as candidates for the election. Finn Thoresen
Finn Thoresen (21 January 1932 – 30 May 2004) was a Norwegian businessman and politician for the Progress Party. He was a member of the central administration of the Progress Party (then Anders Lange's Party) from 1973 to 1976, and was chairman of its Østfold chapter from 1974 to 1975. From 1983 to 1990 he was the deputy mayor of Ski. He was elected deputy Member of Parliament (MP) for the Progress Party from Akershus from 1981 to 1985, and in 1989 he was elected as a regular MP. In November 1992 he however left the party, citing strong disagreements with the influence and development of the Youth of the Progress Party, which he claimed had "misunderstood" liberalism. He said he did not want to be "associated with gay marriages and liberal porn legislations".
