Nedstrandsfjorden
Boknafjord or Boknafjorden ( en, Bokna Fjord) is a fjord located in Rogaland county, Norway. The huge fjord lies between the cities of Stavanger and Haugesund and dominates the central part of the county. The main part of the fjord is shared between the municipalities of Kvitsøy, Stavanger, Tysvær, Bokn, and Karmøy. There are dozens of smaller fjords that branch off the main part of the fjord, reaching most municipalities in the county. At its longest, the Boknafjord reaches about into the mainland at the innermost point of the Hylsfjorden. Other notable branches include the Saudafjorden, Sandsfjorden, Vindafjorden, Hervikfjorden, Førresfjorden, Erfjorden, Jøsenfjorden, Årdalsfjorden, Idsefjorden, Høgsfjorden, Lysefjorden, and Gandsfjorden. Erfjorden
Erfjorden is a fjord in the municipalities Suldal and Hjelmeland in Rogaland county, Norway. Sjernarøyane
Sjernarøyane is an island group in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The islands are located in the Nedstrandsfjorden, west of the large island of Ombo and north of the large island of Finnøy. As of 2014, the islands were home to 365 residents. The islands were historically part of the municipality of Sjernarøy before merging into the municipality of Finnøy in 1965. Then in 2020, the islands were transferred to Stavanger municipality. The Aubøsund strait, which runs between the islands of Aubø and Bjergøy was a historically important trading post. The name comes from Old Norse word ''"Sjǫrn"'' which means the number seven, since historically the archipelago had seven inhabited islands. Rogfast
Rogaland Fixed Link or simply the Rogfast is a project, constructing a sub-sea road tunnel between the municipalities of Randaberg (near the city of Stavanger) and Bokn in Rogaland county, Norway. The tunnel will be called the Boknafjord tunnel; it will be a world record with respect to its length and its maximum depth of below sea level. This will be a part of the main European route E39 highway along the west coast of Norway and it will link the cities of Kristiansand – Stavanger – Haugesund – Bergen. Mosterøy (island)
Mosterøy is an island in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island lies just southwest of the island of Rennesøy. The smaller islands of Sokn, Bru, and Åmøy lie to the south of Mosterøy and the islands of Klosterøy and Fjøløy lie to the west of Mosterøy. All of these islands are connected together and to the mainland city of Stavanger by a series of undersea tunnels and bridges. The Mastrafjord Tunnel connects Mosterøy to the island of Rennesøy and the Askjesund Bridge connects Mosterøy to the island of Sokn. Both the tunnel and bridge are part of the European route E39 highway. Finnøy (island)
Finnøy is an island in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island is located on the southern side of the Boknafjorden, about northeast of the city of Stavanger. The largest urban area on the island is the village of Judaberg which is located on the eastern shore of the island. The village of Hesby, on the western coast, is a historical seat of power dating back to the Middle Ages. Hesby is also the site of Hesby Church which dates back to around the year 1100 A.D. Prior to 2020, the island was part of Finnøy municipality. Finnøy island is connected to the mainland by a series of bridges and undersea tunnels. Finnøy Tunnel connects Finnøy to the nearby island of Rennesøy, and to the nearby island of Talgje. Ombo
Ombo is an island in the municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. The island is the largest island in the Ryfylke region and the second largest island in Rogaland county. There are several villages on the island including Jørstadvåg, Atlatveit, and Eidssund in the western part of the island and the villages of Tuftene, Skipavik, Skår, and Vestersjø are located on the southeastern part of the island. Rennesøy (island)
Rennesøy is an island in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island lies on the south side of the Boknafjorden, surrounded by several other islands. The islands of Mosterøy, Klosterøy, and Åmøy lie to the south and Finnøy and Talgje lie to the northeast. The villages of Vikevåg and Sørbø are both located on the island. The Hausken Church is located in Vikevåg and the 900-year old Sørbø Church is located in Sørbø. Kvitsøy (island)
Kvitsøy or Kvitsøya is the main island in Kvitsøy municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island is one of 167 islands and skerries that make up the municipality. The island is home to most of the municipal residents, as well as the majority of the municipality's land area. The main population centre on the island is the village of Ydstebøhamn on the southern coast. The Kvitsøy Church and Kvitsøy Lighthouse are both located on the island. The island is only accessible by boat. Vestre Bokn
Vestre Bokn is an island in Bokn municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island is the main island of the municipality. It lies on the northern side of the Boknafjorden at the southern end of the Karmsundet strait. Vestre Bokn lies between the islands of Karmøy (to the west) and Austre Bokn and Ognøya (to the northeast). The main population centre on the island is the village of Føresvik, the administrative centre of the whole municipality. There are about 661 inhabitants on the island (as of 2014). Gandsfjorden
Gandsfjorden or Gandafjorden is a fjord in Rogaland county, Norway. The long Gandsfjorden is an arm off of the large Boknafjorden. It runs between the mainland and the Stavanger Peninsula in the western parts of the municipalities of Stavanger and Sandnes. The entire west and south side of the Gandsfjorden is highly developed and urban as this is the location of the cities of Stavanger and Sandnes, the third largest urban area in Norway.
