The Nawanagar cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team active in first-class cricket from 1936 until 1947, operating in the West Zone of the Ranji Trophy for twelve seasons. Ajitsinhji Ground
Ajitsinhji Ground is cricket ground in Jamnagar, Saurashtra.The ground was established in 1933. It hosted its first match in 1933 when Marylebone Cricket Club toured India and Ceylon in 1933/34. The match was played between Jamnagar cricket team and Marylebone Cricket Club which was drawn. In the match international player like England captain Douglas Jardine, Cyril Walters and Indian fast-bowler Amar Singh were included. It took four year for hosting its first-class and first Ranji Trophy match which was played between Western India cricket team and Maharashtra cricket team which was won by Western India by 78 runs. Sind Cricket Team
The Sind cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team representing the British Indian province of Sind. The team played in the Ranji Trophy from 1934–35 season until 1947–48 season in British India, before the partition of India. The team first played first-class cricket in Ranji Trophy in the 1934 season against Western India team. The team continued to appear in the Ranji Trophy until the 1947/48 season, when it played its final first-class match against Bombay. Following the independence and partition of India, the Sind team was succeeded by the Sindh cricket team which went on to represent the Sindh province of Pakistan. The Ranji Trophy (also known as Mastercard Ranji Trophy for sponsorship reasons) is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple teams representing regional and state cricket associations. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. Nawanagar State
Nawanagar was an Indian princely state in the historical Halar region, located on the southern shores of the Gulf of Kutch. It was ruled by the Jadeja Rajput dynasty and became the part of newly formed India. The city is now known as Jamnagar. It had an area of and a population estimated at 336,779 in 1901. Its rulers, who use the title of "Jam Saheb" are of the same clan as the Cutch State, Rao of Kutch. They were entitled to a 13-gun salute. The state flag was a rectangular red flag with a white elephant, near and facing the hoist. During the British Raj, British, the state was part of the Kathiawar Agency, within the Gujarat Division of Bombay Presidency. The state had a pearl fishery and much of its wealth came from this. The 1936–37 Ranji Trophy was the third season of the Ranji Trophy. It was contested between 17 teams in a knockout format. Nawanagar won the title in their first appearance defeating Bengal in the final. Highlights * Amar Singh of Nawanagar scored 103 (in 75 minutes) & 55, and took 10/83 (6/48 & 4/35) against Sind. 1937–38 Ranji Trophy
The 1937–38 Ranji Trophy was the fourth season of the Ranji Trophy that was contested between 18 cricket teams in four zones in a knockout format. Hyderabad defeated the defending champions Nawanagar in the final. Highlights * Hyderabad qualified for the final after getting walkovers in the previous two rounds when their opposition failed to appear.
