1936–37 Ranji Trophy
The 1936–37 Ranji Trophy was the third season of the Ranji Trophy. It was contested between 17 teams in a knockout format. Nawanagar won the title in their first appearance defeating Bengal in the final. Highlights * Amar Singh of Nawanagar scored 103 (in 75 minutes) & 55, and took 10/83 (6/48 & 4/35) against Sind. Against Bombay, he took 8/62 in an innings. Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The board was formed in and is a consortium of List of members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, state cricket associations. Sind Cricket Team
The Sind cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team representing the British Indian province of Sind. The team played in the Ranji Trophy from 1934–35 season until 1947–48 season in British India, before the partition of India. The team first played first-class cricket in Ranji Trophy in the 1934 season against Western India team. The team continued to appear in the Ranji Trophy until the 1947/48 season, when it played its final first-class match against Bombay. Following the independence and partition of India, the Sind team was succeeded by the Sindh cricket team which went on to represent the Sindh province of Pakistan. Mushtaq Ali
Syed Mushtaq Ali (; 17 December 1914 – 18 June 2005) was an Indian cricketer, a right-handed opening batsman who holds the distinction of scoring the first overseas Test century by an Indian player when he scored 112 against England at Old Trafford in 1936. He batted right-handed but was a slow left arm orthodox spin bowler. He bowled frequently enough in domestic matches to be classified as an all-rounder but only occasionally in test matches. Mushtaq Ali was noted for his graceful batting style and a flair which often cost him his wicket by being over-adventurous too soon in an innings. Career Mushtaq Ali was the discovery of C. K. Nayudu who observed him at Indore at the age of 13 and helped to develop his cricketing skills. A Wisden Special Award winner, he scored four first-class hundreds in the 1936 tour. Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares his team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the ''Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. The Rajasthan cricket team is a cricket team which represents the Indian state of Rajasthan. The team won the Ranji Trophy in the 2010–11 and 2011-12 seasons, having finished runners-up eight times between 1960–61 and 1973-74. It is currently in the Ranji Trophy Elite group. The Bihar cricket team represents the state of Bihar in Indian domestic cricket competitions. It is run by Bihar Cricket Association. History 1936 to 2004 The team competed in the Ranji Trophy from 1936-37 until 2003–04. When the state of Bihar was divided into two states, Bihar and Jharkhand, most of the former state's cricket infrastructure was in Jharkhand, so Jharkhand commenced playing in the Ranji Trophy, and the state of Bihar was no longer represented. The Madhya Pradesh cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It competes in the Ranji Trophy. History Holkar cricket team A Central India team competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1939–40, playing 12 matches. In 1941, Holkar entered the competition, organised and managed by King Yashwantrao Holkar II belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. Central Provinces And Berar Cricket Team
The Central Provinces and Berar cricket team represented the Indian province and state of Central Provinces and Berar in the Ranji Trophy from 1934–35 to 1949–50. After the state was dissolved and redistributed into several states in 1950, the Central Provinces and Berar team was superseded by the Madhya Pradesh team, beginning with the 1950–51 Ranji Trophy, and the Vidarbha team, beginning with the 1957–58 Ranji Trophy.
