The National University of Misiones (in Spanish: ''Universidad Nacional de Misiones'', ''UNaM'') is a public university in Argentina. It has a publishing house and a radio station, ''LRH301 FM Universidad Nacional de Misiones'', that streams in Ogg Vorbis format. History The university founded by the Argentine law 20.286 on April 16, 1973, as part of the Taquini plan, a program of reorganization of higher education in Argentina. This would involve the foundation of the universities of Jujuy, La Pampa, Lomas de Zamora, Entre Ríos, Luján, Catamarca, Salta, San Juan, San Luis and Santiago del Estero, to form more than 11.000 pupils, on border locations with Paraguay and Brazil. Carlos Rovira
Carlos Eduardo Rovira (born February 18, 1956) is an Argentine Justicialist Party (PJ) politician, until 2007 governor of Misiones Province at the head of the Front for the Renewal of Concord. Rovira was born in Posadas and studied chemical engineering at the National University of Misiones, later earning a postgraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Buenos Aires. After a period in academic research, he became an environmental consultant, focusing especially on water quality. He joined the provincial government in 1992, heading the transport department until 1995. In 1995, Rovira was elected Mayor of Posadas. In 1999 he was elected for a first term as Governor of Misiones. Mercedes Margarita Oviedo
Mercedes Margarita Oviedo (born 29 October 1952) is an Argentine politician of the Justicialist Party who served as a National Senator for Misiones from 2001 to 2005, and as Vice Governor of Misiones from 1999 to 2001, under Carlos Rovira. Born in El Zapallar, Chaco, Oviedo studied to become a teacher at the Escuela Normal Nacional Estados Unidos del Brasil, and later finished a degree on social work from the National University of Misiones. Asa Cristina Laurell is a Mexican sociologist who has had a long career in both research and government positions. She grew up in Sweden, but her education eventually brought her to Mexico. In Mexico, she was awarded two degrees and conducted research that focused on health policy, including ensuring access to health care for people in Mexico and various other Latin American countries. She is known for her role in helping to found the Latin American Association of Social Medicine (ALAMES), as well as the contributions she has made to widening access to health care for Mexicans during her time in government. Alberto Rafael Garrido García (3 September 1949 – 4 December 2007) was an Argentine–Venezuelan journalist, political analyst and writer known for his works on Hugo Chávez. Maurice Fabián 'Mauri' Closs (born 10 June 1971) is an Argentine politician, formerly of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) but now leading the Front for the Renewal of Concord, allied to the Front for Victory in support of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Eldorado is a city in the center-northeast of the province of Misiones, Argentina. It has 54,189 inhabitants as per the , making it the third most populated city in the province, and is the head town of the Eldorado Department.
