Guishan District
Guishan District () is a district in northeastern Taoyuan City, Taiwan. History Guishan was formerly known as ''Kulunsia'' ( (Ku-lun-siā))). The name originated from a hill by the Mercy Buddha Temple of Shou Shan Rock, built in 7th year of the Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty. The plains aborigines and Ketagalan tribes were located here. From 1920 to 1945, was under Tōen District, Shinchiku Prefecture. In 1950, it was renamed to ''Kueishan''. On 25 December 2014, it was upgraded from Guishan Township to a district called Guishan District. Taoyuan () is a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in northwestern Taiwan, neighboring New Taipei City to the north-east, Yilan County to the south-east, and Hsinchu County to the south-west. Taoyuan District is the seat of the municipal government and which, along with Zhongli District, forms a large metropolitan area. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), commonly known as the Airport MRT, is a rapid transit line of Taoyuan Metro that connects the municipalities of Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan with Taoyuan International Airport. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Chang Gung University (CGU; ) is a private university in Guishan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. History The institution was established as the Chang Gung Medical College in April 1987. Engineering and management students have been accepted since 1993, when the name was changed to Chang Gung College of Medicine and Technology. In July 1997, the name was changed again to Chang Gung University. Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (CGUST; ) is a private university in Guishan District, Taoyuan City, and Puzi City, Chiayi County of Taiwan. History CGUST was originally established as Ming Chi College of Technology in 1983. In 1988, the Chang Gung Institute of Nursing was established as a two-year junior college program for nursing. Formosa Plastics Group Museum
The Formosa Plastics Group Museum is located on the grounds of Chang Gung University in Taiwan. After opening to the public in 2004, it became a tourist attraction in Taoyuan. The museum has six above-ground exhibition floors and one basement exhibition area covering over 8,000 square meters. Its main purpose is to educate the general public in regards to the two FPG founders, Wang Yung-Ching and Wang Yung Tsai. Free individual, scheduled group and holiday tours as well as recorded audio guides are available to visitors. Architecture 1st Floor: The Spirit of the Formosa Plastics Group The lobby features the museum's first acquisition, a fifty-thousand-year-old piece of petrified wood at its center.
