National Sports Council (Nepal)
The National sports council ( ne, राष्ट्रिय खेलकुद परिषद) of Nepal (or NSC) is the governmental authentic sports organization of Nepal. There are more than 123 sports related association and 6 federation are affiliated under it. It has the motto "sports for the health, sports for the nation". Its falls under Ministry of Youth and Sports. And the minister is official chairman of the council. Current chairman is Hon. Maheswor Jung Mahatraj "Athak" whereas vice chairman iShiva Koirala "Jwala" Tanka Lal Ghising is a member secretary of National Sports Council. Nepal participates in Olympic Games, Asian Games and South Asian Games through Nepal Olympic committee (NOC). Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj
Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj (alt. forename: Maheshwor; alt. middle name:Jang, Janga; nickname:Athak) (born August 28, 1971) is a Nepali communist politician and a former member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He also previously served as the Minister for Youth and Sports between 8 October 2021 to 26 December 2022. He was the commander of the first attack carried out by the Maoists, that began the Nepalese civil war. Political career Gahatraj was a member of CPN (Masal) until 1987. He joined the Maoist party, and during the civil war, was the party "In-Charge" for Rukum, Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla and Mugu districts. At the commencement of the maoist insurgency in Nepal in 1996, he was the commander of the first attack against Nepali government, carried out on the police post in Radijyula, Aathbiskot of Rukum. is a genre of classical Japanese poetry and one of the major genres of Japanese literature. Etymology Originally, in the time of the ''Man'yōshū'' (latter half of the eighth century AD), the term ''tanka'' was used to distinguish "short poems" from the longer . Asian Games
The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The Games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first Games in New Delhi, India, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. South Asian Games
The South Asian Games (SAG or SA Games), formerly known as the South Asian Federation Games (SAFG or SAF Games), is a quadrennial multi-sport event held among the athletes from South Asia. The governing body of these games is South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC), formed in 1983. Currently, the SAOC comprises 7 member countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan participated 4 times in the SAF Games since 2004, but left the SAOC after participating in the 2016th edition and joined CAOC. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) (Nepali language, Nepali: अखिल नेपाल फुटबल संघ (एन्फा)) is the governing body of football in Nepal. It is responsible for the Nepal national football team, national team as well as club competitions. Cricket Association Of Nepal
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is the official governing body of cricket in Nepal. It was suspended from 2016 to 13 October 2019 due to governmental interference. The ICC welcomed the elections of the board held in September 2019 and formally reinstated the board on a conditional basis on 14 October. Its headquarters is in Kathmandu, Nepal. Cricket Association of Nepal is Nepal's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and remains an associate member, having been a member since 1988 AD (2045 BS). It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Elephant Polo
Elephant polo is a variant of polo played while riding elephants. It is played in Nepal, Rajasthan (India), and Thailand. England and Scotland regularly field teams. Equipment consists of a standard polo ball and six to ten foot cane (similar to bamboo) sticks with a polo mallet head on the end. The pitch is three-quarters of the length of a standard polo pitch, due to the lower speed of the elephants. Two people ride each elephant; the elephants are steered by mahouts, while the player tells the mahout which way to go and hits the ball. Elephant polo originated in Meghauli, Nepal. Tiger Tops in Nepal remains the headquarters of elephant polo and the site of the World Elephant Polo Championships.
