Lee is a County (United States), county in Mississippi. At the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, the population was 82,910. The county seat is Tupelo, Mississippi, Tupelo. Lee County is included in the Tupelo micropolitan area, Tupelo Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Lee County was established on October 26, 1866, and named for General Robert E. Lee, General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States. Baldwyn is a city located in Lee and Prentiss counties, Mississippi, located in the northern part of the Tupelo micropolitan area. The population was 3,071 at the 2020 census. History Located five miles north of Guntown, the main street of Baldwyn runs along the county line of Lee and Prentiss counties. Baldwyn has the unusual distinction of having been incorporated in four counties. It was incorporated by an act of the Legislature in Tishomingo and Itawamba counties on April 1, 1861. It is split into three distinct sections, with the first running from Ashland at MS 5 to MS 15 at Falkner, the second running from MS 4 in Ripley to MS 30 in Pleasant Ridge, and the third and final section running from MS 9 and MS 30 near Jericho to Kirkville at MS 371. Tupelo () is a city in and the county seat of Lee County, Mississippi, United States. With an estimated population of 38,300, Tupelo is the sixth-largest city in Mississippi and is considered a commercial, industrial, and cultural hub of North Mississippi. Tupelo was incorporated in 1866. The area had earlier been settled as "Gum Pond" along the Mobile and Ohio Railroad.
