The Transitional National Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the Transitional National Legislature of South Sudan. Composition 2011-2016 Following independence in 2011, the National Legislative Assembly comprises: *all persons who were members of the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly; and *all South Sudanese who were members of the National Assembly of Sudan, by virtue of their membership in that Assembly. Members of the Council of Ministers who are not members of the National Legislative Assembly must participate in its deliberations but do not have the right to vote. Jemma Nunu Kumba
Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba (born 1966) is a South Sudanese politician. She is the current Minister of Gender, Child and Social Warfare of South Sudan. She founded the Sudan women Parliamentary Caucus in 2004 at the start of the comprehensive peace agreement. She was chosen by the SPLM as the speaker of the Revitalised Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA). She became the first woman to preside over the parliament of South Sudan. Early life Jemma Nunu Kumba was born in Tombura County of Western Equatoria. During her childhood, she moved from Tombura County to a refugee camp in Central Africa. Obuch Ojwok Akuo is a politician from South Sudan. He was the speaker of the South Sudan National Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2021. He is a member of the SPLM who represents Eastern Equatoria. Ojwok is a Pari, an ethnic group in Lafon County, Imatong State. He became speaker on December 16, 2019 after the resignation of Anthony Lino Makana, who was accused of corruption. Anthony Lino Makana is a South Sudanese politician. He was the Speaker of Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan from 2016 until his resignation in 2019. He was a former Minister of Transport and Roads in the Cabinet of South Sudan. He was appointed to that position on 10 July 2011. He was appointed as the speaker of National Legislative Assembly in August 2016. James Wani Igga
James Wani Igga (born 1949) is a South Sudanese who was the second vice president of South Sudan. He was speaker of the National Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2013 and secretary general of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement. On 30 May 2020, he tested positive for COVID-19. Early life Igga was born in 1949. He is variously described to stem from the Bari and Zande ethnic groups and he is a Roman Catholic. He studied economics in Cairo. Civil war years Igga joined the South Sudanese rebels in 1985, training in Cuba and Ethiopia. The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM; ar, الحركة الشعبية لتحرير السودان, ''Al-Ḥarakat ash-Shaʿbiyyat liTaḥrīr as-Sūdān'') is a political party in South Sudan. It was initially founded as the political wing of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA; a key belligerent of the Second Sudanese Civil War) in 1983.
