National League Cricket (Nepal)
National League Cricket was an annual cricket tournament held in Nepal. It was administered by the Cricket Association of Nepal. History The first organized league cricket in Nepal was held in 2002 as Birendra Memorial National League Cricket. Due to heavy rain, the final game set on 18 May between Biratnagar and Bhairahawa had to be cancelled and winners were declared on the basis of net run rate achieved before the final match. Biratnagar won the trophy with a run rate of +1.33 compared to +1.023 of Bhairahawa. The initial tournament was sponsored by Carlsberg. In 2007, CAN signed sponsorship deals with Surya Nepal’s Shikhar Filter Kings, John Players and Standard Chartered Bank as the major sponsors of the revised national league and the national team for 5 years worth रु 20 Lakhs. Cricket Association Of Nepal
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is the official governing body of cricket in Nepal. It was suspended from 2016 to 13 October 2019 due to governmental interference. The ICC welcomed the elections of the board held in September 2019 and formally reinstated the board on a conditional basis on 14 October. Its headquarters is in Kathmandu, Nepal. Cricket Association of Nepal is Nepal's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and remains an associate member, having been a member since 1988 AD (2045 BS). It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The board was dissolved by the government of Nepal in November 2014 on the grounds of incompetence and a three-member ad hoc committee was established with a new president designated by the government itself. Nepal A.P.F. Club (), commonly known as APF Club, is a sports club based in Kathmandu, Bagmati Province, Nepal. The club is the sports-wing of the Armed Police Force. History The APF Club was established on 24 October 2001, following the tradition of forming a sports club within an official group, as the Police and army had already done. Initially, the club was named Gyanendra APF Club, in tribute to the King at the time. Later, the government made the decision to remove all references to royalty from the names of government clubs, so the team changed their name to APF Club. Cricket APF is one of the three departmental teams to play in National League Cricket and in Prime Minister One Day Cup. Prime Minister One Day Cup
The Prime Minister Cup One-Day Cricket Tournament (PM Cup) ( ne, प्रधानमन्त्री एकदिवसीय कप) is a one-day cricket tournament in Nepal organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal. It was formerly administered by the National Sports Council while CAN was suspended. It was played amongst 8 teams in 2017 and is played amongst 10 teams from 2018 onward. History The National Sports Council organised the Prime Minister Cup in 2017 due to the suspension of the Cricket Association of Nepal by the International Cricket Council. A domestic one-day cricket tournament had not been held in the country for three years due to conflicts within the board which eventually led to its suspension. Everest Premier League (EPL) ( ne, एभरेष्ट प्रिमियर लिग) is a franchise Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by EPL Pvt. Ltd., a private group in Nepal run by Aamir Akhtar alongside his team including Kieran Holds and Jack Edmondson. It is the biggest cricket tournament in the country, played during the northern winter calendar, mostly in the month of December.
