Narsingdi railway station is a railway station located in Narsingdi, Narsingdi District, Bangladesh. History This station is a former junction station and the railway was built in 1970 from here to Madanganj in Narayanganj. The line was closed in 1977 due to traffic problems. The railway line was removed in 1984. which has been used as a roadway since 2004. Narsingdi /Narsingdi Sadar ( bn, নরসিংদী) is a city and headquarters of Narsingdi District in the division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Dhaka-Sylhet highway connects Narsingdi with the capital and other major cities. The district is located between 24.1344° N and 90.7860° E. Surrounded by Tarowa on the north, Hazipur on the east, the Meghna River on the south, and by Chouwala and Kamargaon on the west , on the west in the district. The Tongi–Bhairab–Akhaura line ( bn, টঙ্গী-ভৈরব-আখাউড়া রেলপথ) is a railway line connecting Tongi and Akhaura, via Bhairab Upazila, Bhairab Bazar in Bangladesh. The following is a list of conventional lines of rail transport in Bangladesh. History The first railway line in Bangladesh was laid in 1862 by the British Raj. At that time Bangladesh didn't exist and its land was part of the Bengal Presidency. On 15 November of that year, Eastern Bengal Railway, the predecessor of Bangladesh Railway, opened the first railway line from Darshana railway station to Jagati railway station. In 1885 another railway line was built from Narayanganj to Mymensingh. In 1895, the railway line from Comilla to Chittagong was built. In 1914, a new railway was built from Akhaura to Tongi.
