Naomh Éanna GAA (Gorey)
Naomh Éanna GAA is a hurling, Gaelic football and camogie club based in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland.St.Enda’s History The hurling club was founded in 1970 by a group of Christian Brothers and takes its name from Scoil Éanna, the school founded by Patrick Pearse. The camogie team was revived in 2002. Naomh Éanna won the Wexford IHC in 2015, advanced to the 2015–16 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship where they lost to Kiltale (Meath). Naomh Éanna were also promoted to the senior championship, winning their first senior hurling county title in 2018. Gorey
Gorey () is a market town in north County Wexford, Ireland. It is beside the main M11 Dublin to Wexford road. The town is also connected to the railway network along the same route. Local newspapers include the ''Gorey Guardian''. As a growing commuter town to Dublin for some residents, there has been an increase in population in the early 21st century. The 2018 Wexford Senior Hurling Championship was the 116th staging of the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Wexford County Board in 1889. The championship began on 20 April 2018 and ended on 21 October 2018. St Martin's were the defending champions. On 21 October 2018, Naomh Éanna won the title following a 2-11 to 0-13 defeat of St Martin's in the final at Innovate Wexford Park. It was their first ever championship title. Shane McGuckin
Shane McGuckin (born 1969) is an Irish retired hurler who played for club sides St Rynagh's and Naomh Éanna and at inter-county level with the Offaly senior hurling team. Career Born in Banagher, County Offaly, McGuckin first came to prominence on the St. Rynagh's club side that won four County Championship title in six seasons between 1987 and 1993. The last of these was converted into a Leinster Club Championship title. Success at club level saw McGuckin drafted onto the Offaly senior team during the 1990-91 National League. He collected his first silverware with the team in 1994 when Offaly won the Leinster Championship before ending the season as an All-Ireland Championship-winner after a defeat of Limerick in the final. McGuckin won a second successive provincial title the following year before captaining the team for the 1996 season. His son, Charlie McGuckin, has lined out for the Wexford senior hurling team. Conor McDonald
Conor McDonald (born 22 September 1995) is an Irish hurler who plays for Wexford Senior Championship club Naomh Éanna and at inter-county level with the Wexford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left wing-forward. Playing career Gorey Community School McDonald first came to prominence as a hurler with Gorey Community School and Naomh Eanna GAA Club. He played in every grade of hurling before eventually joining the college's senior hurling team and lined out in several Leinster Championship campaigns. University College Dublin As a student at University College Dublin, McDonald joined the senior hurling team during his second year. He lined out for the college in the Fitzgibbon Cup and Walsh Cup. Ger Cushe (born 3 March 1967 in Gorey, County Wexford) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Naomh Éanna and was a member of the Wexford senior inter-county team from 1991 until 1999. Playing career Club Cushe played his club hurling with his local Naomh Éanna club in Gorey. He had some success with the club at underage level and in 1990 he captained the side to a Wexford intermediate hurling championship title. Inter-county In the mid 1980s Cushe joined the Wexford minor hurling team. He won a Leinster title with his native-county in 1985, however, Wexford later lost the All-Ireland final to Cork. Cushe later graduated onto Wexford's under-21 team where he won back-to-back Leinster titles in 1986 and 1987. Once again he was denied an All-Ireland medal, this time by Galway. The Wexford Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Wexford GAA clubs. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology.
