Nantes Tram-train
The Nantes tram-train (french: Tram-train de Nantes) is a tram-train network operating in the French city of Nantes and the surrounding region. Background The Nantes to Châteaubriant railway line was part of a former Nantes to Rennes railway route which originally opened in 1877. The Nantes to Châteaubriant section closed to passenger traffic in 1980 and to freight in 2008. Approval to modernise this line received approval in 2009; and in 2014, the line reopened for exclusive use of the Nantes tram-train network, becoming the second line to operate after an existing line to Clisson opened in 2011, sharing track with mainline trains. Châteaubriant
Châteaubriant (; br, Kastell-Briant; Gallo: ''Châtiaoberiant'') is a town in western France, about southwest of Paris, and one of the three sous-préfectures of the Loire-Atlantique department. Châteaubriant is also situated in the historical and cultural region of Brittany, and it is the capital of the Pays de la Mée. A part of the traditional province of Brittany, Châteaubriant also lies on the threshold of Anjou, and it was an important stronghold in northwestern France during the Middle Ages. Clisson
Clisson (; br, Klison), is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France. It is situated at the confluence of the Sèvre Nantaise and the Moine southeast of Nantes. The town and the celebrated family of Clisson (the most famous members are Olivier IV de Clisson and Jeanne de Clisson) take their name from their stronghold. Clisson has its imposing ruins, parts of which date from the thirteenth century. The town and castle, the château de Clisson, were destroyed in 1792 and 1793 during the War in the Vendée. Afterwards, the sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot bought the castle, and the town was rebuilt in the early part of the 19th century according to his plans. Nantes Tramway
The Nantes tramway (french: Tramway de Nantes) is a tramway system operating in the city of Nantes in Pays de la Loire, France. The first tramway in Nantes opened in 1879 and closed in 1958 due to bombing damage during World War II, while the present tramway was re-introduced to the city in 1985. The first tramway in Nantes was notable for its use of compressed air propulsion pioneering this technology. In the 1980s, Nantes became the first city in Europe to re-introduce the present tramway which was the first modern 'new generation' tramway to be built, reversing the trend of tramway closures that had been going on since the middle of the 20th century and becoming the first in a wave of tramways built from scratch in France and the rest of Europe. Tram-train De L'ouest Lyonnais
The tram-train de l'ouest lyonnais (in English, Western Lyon tram-train) is transport project in the urban area of Lyon in the region Rhône-Alpes to improve the traffic between the railway stations of Gare de Lyon-Saint-Paul, Lyon-Saint-Paul to Brignais, L'Arbresle, Sain-Bel, and Lozanne. The project consists of the creation of three tram-train lines. Some rail lines have been doubled, platforms rebuilt, and stations modernised. The total cost of the project is around €150·2m.
