European Tour
The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged fifty or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe. The tour's headquarters are at the Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. The European Tour was established by the British-based Professional Golfers' Association through the 1970s, and responsibility was transferred to an independent PGA European Tour organisation in 1984. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Stroke Play
Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Although most professional tournaments are played using the stroke play scoring system, some notable exceptions exist. In match play, the player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents. Marco Crespi
Marco Crespi (born 5 November 1978) is an Italian professional golfer. Career Crespi was born in Monza, Italy. He turned professional in 2002. Crespi played on the Challenge Tour in 2006–09 and 2012–13. He was invited to the 2012 Telenet Trophy which he won to earn full membership of the Challenge Tour. He subsequently won the 2013 Mugello Tuscany Open. Crespi earned his 2014 European Tour card via qualifying school on his 11th attempt. He also earned his first European Tour win at the NH Collection Open and is the oldest rookie to win in European Tour history. By 2016, Crespi lost his European Tour card and was playing on the third tier Alps Tour, where he won in 2017. The 2014 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. 2014 European Tour
The 2014 European Tour was the sixth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 43rd season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The schedule comprised 49 tournaments counting for the Race to Dubai, including the four major championships and four World Golf Championships, and concluded with four Final Series events culminating at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai at the end of November. Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy won the Race to Dubai for the second time, having won two majors, a WGC and the European Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, during the season. Richie Ramsay
} Richie Ramsay (born 15 June 1983) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Ramsay played in the 2005 Walker Cup and, in 2006, became the first British golfer in almost a century to win the U.S. Amateur. Ramsay turned professional in 2007, and played two seasons on the second tier Challenge Tour, winning twice in 2008. He has played on the European Tour since 2009, winning three times. Personal life Ramsay was born in Aberdeen. He is an honorary member of Royal Aberdeen Golf Club and was a student at Stirling University in Scotland, where he graduated in 2007.
