Mohamed Kordofani
Mohamed Kordofani (, born in Khartoum) is a Sudanese film director and screenwriter, who lives in Bahrain and worked as an aviation engineer. He became internationally known for his first feature film ''Goodbye Julia'' in 2023. It was the first film from Sudan ever to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival. Among awards from other international festivals, ''Goodbye Julia'' won the ''Prix de la Liberté'' (Freedom Award) at the 2023 Cannes film festival and has since been shown internationally. Further, it was selected by the Sudanese National Committee operating in exile to compete for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards. Khartoum
Khartoum or Khartum ( ; ar, الخرطوم, Al-Khurṭūm, din, Kaartuɔ̈m) is the capital of Sudan. With a population of 5,274,321, its metropolitan area is the largest in Sudan. Amjad Abu Alala (, born in Dubai) is a Sudanese film director and screenwriter, who was born and lives in the United Arab Emirates. He became internationally known for his first feature film '' You Will Die at Twenty'' in 2019. This film was the first entry ever to be submitted from Sudan for the Academy Awards in the 'Best International Film' category, but was not selected in the final stage. His film has won, however, awards at international film festivals and has been shown internationally. 2023 Sudan Conflict
An armed conflict between rival factions of the military government of Sudan began on 15 April 2023, when clashes broke out in cities, with the fighting concentrated around the capital city of Khartoum and the Darfur region.
