Miguel Zacarías
Miguel Zacarías Nogaim (19 March 1905 – 20 April 2006) was a Mexican film director, producer, and writer. Career Zacarías began directing for film in 1933. Even from his early career he developed a reputation for recognizing new acting talent; he promoted the careers of the some of Mexico's most notable actors including Pedro Armendáriz in ''Rosario'' (1935), María Félix, Marga López, Esther Fernández, Pedro Infante, Tin Tan, Cantinflas, and Manuel Medel. His 1961 film '' Juana Gallo'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. Zacarías directed his last film in 1986. His son is film director Alfredo Zacarias. His granddaughter is playwright Karen Zacarias. ''Juana Gallo'' is a 1961 Mexican drama film written and directed by Miguel Zacarías. It was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. Plot The story takes place during the Mexican Revolution. After Juana Gallo's (Maria Felix) father and boyfriend were executed by the government officials, Juana takes courage in response of her lost and rescues the man from the village that were taken as prisoners. Juana breaks the stereotypes and lectures the man from the village and the soldiers, (now prisoners) of how Mexicans are killing other Mexicans just to protect a corrupt government. Juventino Rosas
José Juventino Policarpo Rosas Cadenas (25 January 18689 July 1894) was a Mexican composer and violinist. Life and career Rosas was born in Santa Cruz, Guanajuato, later renamed Santa Cruz de Galeana, Guanajuato, and still later into Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas. Rosas began his musical career as a street musician, playing with dance music bands in Mexico City. In 1884-85 and 1888 he enrolled into the conservatory, both times leaving it without taking any examination. Most of Rosas's compositions—among them " Sobre las Olas" ("Over the Waves")—were issued by Wagner y Levien and Nagel Sucesores in Mexico City. Sound Film
A sound film is a motion picture with synchronized sound, or sound technologically coupled to image, as opposed to a silent film. The first known public exhibition of projected sound films took place in Paris in 1900, but decades passed before sound motion pictures became commercially practical. Reliable synchronization was difficult to achieve with the early sound-on-disc systems, and amplification and recording quality were also inadequate.
