The Universidade Metodista de São Paulo (Methodist University of São Paulo), also known as UMESP or simply Metodista, is a private university based in the city of São Bernardo do Campo, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Metodista currently enrolls over 18,000 students, with most popular programs in the areas of communications and theology. History Metodista traces its history to 1938, when the Methodists created the Methodist Church Theology College by the Anchieta highway, in São Bernardo do Campo. In 1970, the Methodist Institute of Higher Education (Portuguese: ''Instituto Metodista de Ensino Superior—IMS'') was created and in 1997, and the institution gained university status. Methodism
Methodism, also called the Methodist movement, is a group of historically related denominations of Protestant Christianity whose origins, doctrine and practice derive from the life and teachings of John Wesley. George Whitefield and John's brother Charles Wesley were also significant early leaders in the movement. São Bernardo Do Campo
São Bernardo do Campo () is a Brazilian Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 844,483 (2020 est.) in an area of . History The city was founded by João Ramalho in 1553 and was known as Vila de Santo André da Borda do Campo de Piratininga, soon transferred to another nearby place, safer from hostile tribes. Rodovia Anchieta
The Rodovia Anchieta (Anchieta Highway, official designation SP-150) is a highway connection between São Paulo and the Atlantic coast, the cities of Cubatão and Santos, in Brazil. In the plateau, the highway serves several cities of Greater São Paulo, such as São Bernardo do Campo, São Caetano do Sul, Santo André and Riacho Grande and traverses a picturesque region of dams and rain forests. José Reinaldo Azevedo e Silva (Dois Córregos, August 19, 1961) is a Brazilian journalist. Currently, Reinaldo is a columnist in Folha de S.Paulo newspaper and acts as a commentator on RedeTV! News, of RedeTV! channel, in addition to presenting the program "Pela Ordem" on the platforms of the station. Azevedo's blog was listed in 2014 as one of the top ten political blogs in Brazil.
