Melanie Paschke (born 29 June 1970 in Braunschweig) is a retired German sprinter, who specialised in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 × 100 metres relay. Marita Koch
Marita Koch (later Meier-Koch; born 18 February 1957) is a German former sprint track and field athlete. During her career she collected 16 world records in outdoor sprints as well as 14 world records in indoor events. Her record of 47.60 in the 400 metres, set on 6 October 1985, still stands. Biography Born in Wismar, East Germany, Marita Koch displayed exceptional speed even as a young child and was defeating boys much older than herself in sprint races whilst at school. By the time she had turned 15 years old, she was training under Wolfgang Meier. Meier worked as a naval engineer, but also coached athletics part-time. Koch and Meier moved to Rostock where Koch began to study medicine. However, she decided to stop her studies and focus on running instead. The 4th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held in the Neckarstadium, Stuttgart, Germany between 13 and 22 August with the participation of 187 nations. Ingrid Auerswald ( Brestrich, born 2 September 1957 in Jena, East Germany) is a retired German athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres. Ingeborg "Inge" Helten (born 31 December 1950) is a former athlete from West Germany, who competed mainly in the 100 metres. She was born in Westum, Sinzig, Rhineland-Palatinate. Biography She won her first international Gold medal at the 1971 European Athletics Championships as a member of the 4 × 100 m relay team, where she placed 4th in the 100 metre final. Monika Hamann ( Meyer; born 8 June 1954 in Waren) is a retired East German sprinter who specialized in the 100 and 200m. She represented the sports team SC Neubrandenburg. Biography Meyer competed at the 1971 European Championships, without reaching the final, and won the silver medal in 60 m at the 1975 European Indoor Championships. At the 1978 European Championships she finished fourth in the 100 m and 200 m and won a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 m relay together with Johanna Klier, Carla Bodendorf und Marlies Göhr. Annegret Richter (born 13 October 1950) is a German (former West German) athlete and the 1976 Olympic 100 m champion. Biography Born Annegret Irrgang, she won her first international title at the 1971 European Championships, as a part of her country's 4×100 m relay team. The next year, at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, she finished 5th in the 100 m, in front of her home crowd. As she had married hurdler Manfred Richter, she now ran under that name. Bärbel Wöckel
Bärbel Wöckel ( Eckert; born 21 March 1955 in Leipzig) is a retired East German sprinter. She never ran a world record in the individual disciplines. However, she ran several world records as part of relay teams with Doris Maletzki, Renate Stecher and Christina Heinich over 4 x 100 meters, the last time on September 8, 1974, in Rome. At the GDR Championships she took first place in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981 to 1984. In 1976 she won third place with the team. During this time she was in the state-organized doping program. Biography Wöckel won four Olympic gold medals between the 200 metres race and 4 × 100 metres relay, two each in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics.
