Meath Senior Football Championship
The Meath Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Meath, Ireland. Qualification for subsequent competitions The winners of the Meath Senior Football Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Competition format From 2020, 16 teams compete in the championship, with four groups of four teams. The top two finishers in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group progress to the relegation playoffs. The overall loser in the relegation playoffs gets relegated to the Intermediate Division. Ratoath
Ratoath () is a commuter town in County Meath, Ireland. A branch of the Broad Meadow Water (Broadmeadow River) () flows through the town. The R125 and R155 roads meet in the village. At the 2016 census, there were 9,533 people living in Ratoath. The town is around northwest of Dublin city centre. Name Ratoath gives its name to a village, a townland, a parish, an electoral division and to a barony. The derivation or meaning of the word is uncertain. Two alternative Irish forms are cited: ''Ráth-Tógh'' and ''Ráth-Tábhachta''. These place names occur in Irish manuscripts and scholars say that the writers were referring to Ratoath; it seems that they were trying to give a phonetic rendering of a name that was unfamiliar to them. Ratoath GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association football and hurling club based in and around the town of Ratoath, in County Meath, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic Football competing in Meath GAA & Leinster competitions. The club plies their trade in the Meath Senior Football Championship since 2016 and won their first Meath Senior Football Championship in 2019. The club has tasted Senior success in hurling, winning the Meath Senior Hurling Championship in 1963 and currently compete at senior hurling level since winning the 2016 Meath Intermediate Hurling Championship. St Peters, Dunboyne is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Dunboyne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club competes at senior level in football, hurling, Camogie and ladies football in Meath GAA competitions. The club was founded in 1902 by primary school teacher, Bob O'Keefe. The 2010 Meath Senior Football Championship was the 118th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 17 teams, with the winner going on to represent Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage, and then progresses to a knock out stage. Seneschalstown were the defending champions after they defeated Wolfe Tones, after a replay, in the previous year's final. Oldcastle were promoted after claiming the 2009 Meath Intermediate Football Championship title, their first year in the senior grade since being relegated in 2002. On 26 September 2010, Skryne claimed their 13th Senior Championship title when they defeated Seneschalstown 0-21 to 4-8 in a very entertaining final. Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship. 2010 season Skryne finished second in the Senior Football Championship Group B. The 2017 Meath Senior Football Championship is the 125th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Meath, Ireland. Eighteen teams compete, with the winner representing Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Simonstown Gaels were the defending champions after they defeated Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the 2016 final, and they successfully defended their title to claim their 2nd ever crown when defeating Summerhill in the final in Pairc Tailteann by 2–9 to 0–7 on 29 October 2017. Padraig McKeever raised the Keegan Cup for the North Navan side and also claimed the "Man-of-the-Match" award for the second year in succession. Seneschalstown GAA is a small rural Gaelic Athletic Association club from Beauparc/Kentstown parish in County Meath, founded in 1932. The club ground is situated about 6 miles east of Navan and 3 miles south of Slane. The club has a history in all levels of GAA football over the years and more recently with both its Senior Men and Ladies' teams. The 1991 Meath Senior Football Championship is the 99th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 15 teams, with the winner going on to represent Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. This was Dunderry's return to the grade after claiming the 1990 Meath Intermediate Football Championship title. Navan O'Mahonys were the defending champions after they defeated Summerhill after a replay in the previous years final, however their quest for five titles in a row was ended by Walterstown at the semi-final stage.
