Skryne GFC
Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship. 2010 season Skryne finished second in the Senior Football Championship Group B. The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Mick O'Dowd
Mick O'Dowd is a former Gaelic footballer and former senior manager for Meath. O'Dowd previously managed his local club Skryne to success in 2004. Colm O'Rourke
Colm O'Rourke (born 31 August 1957) is a Gaelic football manager, former player, retired secondary school principal, sports broadcaster and columnist. He has been manager of the Meath county team since 2022. O'Rourke's league and championship career at senior level with the Meath county team spanned twenty years from 1975 to 1995. Born in Aughavas, County Leitrim, his family moved to Skryne in County Meath, where O'Rourke spent his youth. He played competitive Gaelic football during his schooling at St Patrick's Classical School in Navan. O'Rourke first appeared for the Skryne club at underage levels, before winning two county senior championship medals in 1992 and 1993. Paddy O'Brien (Gaelic Footballer)
Paddy "Hands" O'Brien (1925 – 26 March 2016) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-back at senior level for the Meath county team. Born in Skryne, County Meath, O'Brien was introduced to Gaelic football at Skryne National School under the tutelage of schoolmaster Brian Smyth. Gaelic football competitions were curtailed during the Emergency, however, he made his senior début with the Skryne club in 1942. A two-time championship medal winner with Skryne, O'Brien also enjoyed championship success with Seán McDermotts in Dublin. O'Brien made his senior début during the 1944 Leinster League. He went on to play a key role during a golden age for Meath and won two All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and two National League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. John McDermott (Gaelic Footballer)
John McDermott is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Meath county team. He had much success playing inter-county football in the 1990s on the Meath teams managed by Sean Boylan. For Meath he played in the midfield position. Playing career Club McDermott played club football first for Curraha and later Skryne. Inter-county McDermott was on the Meath panel that reached the 1991 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. He had to be taken off injured in Meath's surprising first round loss to Laois in 1992. Then he was wild lucky not to be sent off in the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. During his playing career he won two All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals (1996, 1999), as well as three Leinster Senior Football Championship medals and one National Football League medal. Trevor Giles is an Irish former Gaelic footballer for the Meath county team. Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he plays club football for Skryne. He came to prominence first when he won an All Ireland minor medal with Meath in 1992. In 1993 he moved on to the Under 21 team and won an All Ireland title coming on as a sub in the final. He would go on to win 2 All Ireland Senior medals, 3 Leinster Senior Football Championship medals & 1 National League Medals. He usually played in the half forward line for Meath. Meath Intermediate Football Championship
Meath Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association second-tier competition between Gaelic football clubs organised by Meath GAA. The winning club is promoted to the Meath Senior Football Championship. In the 2021 final, Trim defeated Oldcastle. Each year, the final takes place in Pairc Tailteann, Navan. The winning club competes in the Leinster Intermediate Club Football Championship. The current (2021) champions are Trim.
