Ratoath GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association football and hurling club based in and around the town of Ratoath, in County Meath, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic Football competing in Meath GAA & Leinster competitions. The club plies their trade in the Meath Senior Football Championship since 2016 and won their first Meath Senior Football Championship in 2019. The club has tasted Senior success in hurling, winning the Meath Senior Hurling Championship in 1963 and currently compete at senior hurling level since winning the 2016 Meath Intermediate Hurling Championship. History Ratoath was founded in 1903, however in this period it was solely a hurling club. Ratoath won a Senior Hurling League title in 1912 (the first recorded honour for the club) and Junior Hurling Championships in 1929, '31, '40 and '57. Ratoath () is a commuter town in County Meath, Ireland. A branch of the Broad Meadow Water (Broadmeadow River) () flows through the town. The R125 and R155 roads meet in the village. At the 2016 census, there were 9,533 people living in Ratoath. The town is around northwest of Dublin city centre. Name Ratoath gives its name to a village, a townland, a parish, an electoral division and to a barony. The derivation or meaning of the word is uncertain. Two alternative Irish forms are cited: ''Ráth-Tógh'' and ''Ráth-Tábhachta''. These place names occur in Irish manuscripts and scholars say that the writers were referring to Ratoath; it seems that they were trying to give a phonetic rendering of a name that was unfamiliar to them. ''Mruigtuaithe'' occurs in the Book of Armagh as the name of one of these places in Meath where Saint Patrick founded a church and Eoin MacNeill identifies it as Ratoath. Meath Junior Football Championship
The Meath Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Meath GAA clubs. The winner of this championship will be promoted to the Intermediate division. The winner also represents Meath in the Leinster Junior Club Football Championship. The 2021 Meath Junior Football Championship was won by St Vincent's, who defeated Dunsany in the final 1-4 to 0-6. Competition format Up until 1971, the Junior 'A' winners played against the Junior 'B' winners in the Junior Championship final, even though the teams involved in the final had played in different grades of football throughout the season. From 2020 onwards, club reserve teams were not permitted to take part in the Junior Football Championship. 2020 Meath Senior Football Championship
The 2020 Meath Senior Football Championship was the 128th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Meath, Ireland with 16 teams competing. The winner did not represent Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship as the GAA made the decision to cancel the 2020 Provincial and All-Ireland Club Championships due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Ratoath were the defending champions after they defeated Summerhill in the 2019 final to claim their first ever S.F.C. crown. This was Nobber's return to the top flight after six years in the Intermediate grade, after claiming the 2019 I.F.C. title. Meath Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association second-tier competition between Gaelic football clubs organised by Meath GAA. The winning club is promoted to the Meath Senior Football Championship. In the 2021 final, Trim defeated Oldcastle. Each year, the final takes place in Pairc Tailteann, Navan. Stewartstown Harps GFC
Stewartstown Harps is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which was founded in 1912 and based in the village of Stewartstown in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The club plays its games in Mullaghmoyle park. History Stewartstown won the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship in 2004, beating Cremartin in the final. The Harps went on to qualify for the All-Ireland final, but were outclassed by Finuge. In 2006, the Harps regained promotion to Senior Championship Football after a period of 26 years. In 2009 they were again relegated to junior, but the team went on a successful run in the league in 2010, only beaten once. In the championship Stewartstown made it to the final against local rivals Killyman. The Harps lost the final by just one point.
