Marcello Dantas is one of the main figures in the convergence of art and technology in Brazil. Biography Marcelo Dantas studied diplomacy in Brasilia, history of art in Florence and graduated in Film and Television at New York University where he also did a post-graduate extension in Interactive Telecommunications He has assumed the role of producer, creator, designer and curator in many initiatives. He has curated exhibits for Bill Viola, Gary Hill, Jenny Holzer, Shirin Neshat, Tunga, Laura Vinci, Angelo Venosa and Arthur Omar in Brazil. Bill Viola ( , ; born 1951) is an American contemporary video artist whose artistic expression depends upon electronic, sound, and image technology in new media. Gary Hill
Gary Hill (born April 4, 1951) is an American artist who lives and works in Seattle, Washington. Jenny Holzer (born July 29, 1950) is an American neo-conceptual artist, based in Hoosick, New York. Tunga (artist)
Antonio José de Barros Carvalho e Mello Mourão (February 8, 1952 – June 6, 2016), known professionally as Tunga, was a Brazilian sculptor and performance artist. ''The Art Newspaper'' called him "One of Brazil's best-known contemporary artists." As early as he knew the Brazilian modernism he began his career in 1970 by making sculptures and drawings. In 1974 he completed a course in arquitecture and urbanism at the Universidade Santa Ursula. In 2005, Tunga became the first contemporary artist to exhibit his work at the Louvre in the museum's history during an installation called "A la Lumiere des Deux Mondes" ("The Meeting of Two Worlds"). Angelo Venosa
Angelo Venosa (14 August 1954 – 17 October 2022) was a Brazilian sculptor. Life and career Born in São Paulo, the son of two Italian immigrants, Venosa studied art at the Escola Brasil in his hometown, industrial design at the Rio de Janeiro State University and followed courses at Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage. Venosa started his artistic career in 1974, and got notoriety in the 1980s, as part of the movement. His sculptures are characterized from the use of different materials, of both industrial and natural origin. He took part in several notable festivals, including the São Paulo Art Biennial and of the Venice Biennale. Arthur Omar
Arthur Omar (born 1948, Poços de Caldas) is a Brazilian contemporary artist. Omar is a video artist, photographer, filmmaker, and installation artist. Career Omar works with cinema, video, photographic installations, music, poetry, and drawing. He also writes essays and theoretical reflections on the process of creation and the nature of images. Themes such as aesthetic ecstasy, sensory and social violence, and the creation of visual metaphors characterize his work. In 1999, Omar was the subject of a complete retrospective of films and videos at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
