Mannerheim Park, Oulu
The Mannerheim Park is a small urban park in Vanhatulli district of Oulu, Finland. Renovations finished in 2019 changed the look of the park completely, and made it more suitable for small events. The park is a favorite hangout for many. The park is adjacent to the Kela building, and features a grill kiosk and a children's play area with rides and swings. The park was named after Marshal Mannerheim, the commander-in-chief of Finnish defense forces, in honour of his 75th birthday in 1942. Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (, ; 4 June 1867 – 27 January 1951) was a Finnish military leader and statesman. He served as the military leader of the Whites in the Finnish Civil War of 1918, as Regent of Finland (1918–1919), as commander-in-chief of Finland's defence forces during the period of World War II (1939–1945), as Marshal of Finland (1942–), and as the sixth president of Finland (1944–1946). The Russian Empire dominated the Grand Duchy of Finland before 1917, and Mannerheim made a career in the Imperial Russian Army, rising by 1917 to the rank of lieutenant general. He had a prominent place in the ceremonies for Emperor Nicholas II's coronation in 1896 and later had several private meetings with the Tsar. Vanhatulli
Vanhatulli is a district of the city centre area of Oulu, Finland. Together with the districts of Pokkinen and Vaara, Vanhatulli forms the central business district of Oulu. It is bounded by the estuary of the Oulujoki river to the west, the Pokkinen and Vaara districts to the north, the Leveri and Hollihaka districts to the south and the railway to the east. Besides commercial area, Vanhatulli also has got residential neighbourhoods like the historic Kuusiluoto neighbourhood by the river Oulujoki and the new urban neighbourhood of Etu-Lyötty along the railway. Kela (Finnish Institution)
Kela, abbr. from fi, Kansaneläkelaitos, sv, Folkpensionsanstalten (Fpa), en, The Social Insurance Institution (SII), is a Finnish government agency in charge of settling benefits under national social security programs. Kela was founded in 1937 to handle retirement pay. In the 1980s and 1990s, its role was expanded to handle other fields like child benefits, unemployment benefits, sickness benefits, health insurance and student financial aid. Kela benefits are funded from three national insurance funds administered by national government: the national pension fund, the national health insurance fund, and the general social security fund. The Mannerheim Park ( fi, Mannerheimin puisto) is a small urban park located in the city center of Seinäjoki, Finland, near the Aalto Center and the Torikeskus shopping center. The Mannerheim Park is located at the corner of the Kirkkokatu and Koulukatu streets, next to Seinäjoki Lyceum. The Lakeudenpuisto park is located opposite the Mannerheim Park. The park is named after a statue of Marshal Mannerheim in the park. The statue, sculpted by Lauri Leppänen, was unveiled on June 4, 1955.
